The Tech org at OVO is entering an excitinggrowth phase, which includes hiring across all their data squadsthroughout the rest of 2024 and early 2025. This includes a numberof mid-senior level Data Engineers, who will help several key teamsdeliver sophisticated data-driven products which will support thecompany and its customers on the Path to Net Zero. HOW YOU'LL FITIN: As a Data Engineer at OVO, you could find yourself working inone of the following teams: Next Best Action: You will be part of amulti-disciplinary Data squad focusing on Decisioning as a product.The team currently owns a decisioning platform and API supportingdigital and contact centre customer interactions. Operations AI:You will be part of an AI squad focusing on integrating predictiveanalytics and generative AI to enhance customer experience on thePath to Net Zero. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role indeveloping and maintaining data pipelines, powering a platform andAPI that support both digital and contact center customerinteractions. Customer Lifetime Value: As a member of amulti-disciplinary Data Science team, you will help in thedevelopment and improvement of sophisticated data andmachine-learning products, all centred around maximising the OVOcustomer journey. In all of these teams, the Data Engineer willwork to advance OVO's AI-driven products, ensuring they arefuture-proof, scalable, and seamlessly integrated intodecision-making workflows across the business—from C-suite tooperational teams. Ultimately, your work will help drivesustainable solutions and empower customers in their journey towardZero Carbon. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: - Designing, building andmaintaining scalable data solutions, following good softwareengineering practices - Establishing and advocating for goodengineering standard - methodologies within the team, such as IaC,automated testing, - adequate monitoring and alerting, CI/CDstandard processes for - production releases - Raising thestandards of existing codebases following good software engineeringprinciples and educating non-engineers in such practices - Performboth batch and real-time data transformations, ensuring data isaccurate, efficient, and readily available for analysis - From timeto time, help build end-to-end PoCs or prototypes, including basicweb apps or basic frontend integrations ESSENTIAL SKILLS &EXPERIENCE - Passion for crafting scalable, resilient solutions,and an eagerness to drive the team’s technology choices andarchitectural decisions - A strong backend and data engineeringbackground, with the ability to occasionally carry out full stackdevelopment for PoC/prototypes - Skilled in designing, building,monitoring, and managing large-scale data products, pipelines,tooling, and platforms - Deep understanding of the best engineeringpractices, including containerisation and CI/CD - Experience withstreaming and batch ETL solutions using data processing tools likeKafka, Pub-Sub, VertexAI, BigQuery, Dataform, Postgres, orcomparable technologies - Hands-on experience developingcloud-based solutions across GCP, AWS, or Azure, with a command ofInfrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and cloud computeplatforms like GCP Cloud Run - Excellent command of at least oneprogramming language recognised in the Data Engineering community;primarily Python and SQL - Experience or desire to work on MLOps,Model Training, Evaluation and Deployment - You’re accustomed toworking in a multi-disciplinary agile delivery setting withfrequent release cycles, with experience in pair programming, TDD,CI/CD, and strategic deployment approaches – where technologydecisions are not rare If you tick most but not all of therequirements, OVO would still love to hear from you!COMPENSATION/BENEFITS: - Competitive salary range of £55-85K(dependent on experience and seniority) - On-target bonus of 15% -34 days holiday including bank holidays - Pension matching up to 5%- Flexible working as standard - Enhanced parental leave policies -9% cash flex fund which can be used towards a variety of benefits -(pension top-up, annual leave top-up, gym memberships, healthcare -cash plan, workplace ISA, etc.) - OVO community – opportunities forL&D and community involvement
