Senior Python Engineer (AI Systems)

Salary: £60,000 – £90,000

Location: Remote

Eligibility: Applicants must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)

The Opportunity

What if the systems you built didn’t just optimise engagement, but played a role in determining someone’s future career? This is an opportunity to work on AI solutions that directly impact education, certification, and access to skilled professions. Your work will sit at the intersection of large language models, evaluation frameworks, and high-stakes decision-making, where precision, fairness, and reliability matter.

About the Company

This UK-based AI organisation is redefining how professional certification and assessment are delivered. Their goal is to make accreditation more accessible, scalable, and fair through intelligent automation.

You’ll join a small, highly capable team where engineers are trusted to take ownership, influence direction, and deliver meaningful outcomes. Collaboration is strong, and the focus is on building systems that work—properly.

What You’ll Gain

* High levels of ownership and autonomy

* The chance to build AI systems with real-world impact

* End-to-end involvement across the AI lifecycle

* A collaborative, pragmatic engineering culture

* Exposure to LLM evaluation, multimodal AI, and human-in-the-loop systems

The Role

As an AI Engineer, you’ll design and scale intelligent systems that evaluate knowledge and skills accurately and efficiently.

Your work will include:

* Developing AI-driven assessment pipelines using structured data and evaluation criteria

* Building evaluation frameworks, datasets, and testing methodologies

* Working with LLM workflows, focusing on performance, cost, and reliability

* Applying statistical techniques to validate improvements

* Contributing to systems that handle text, image, and video inputs

* Generating clear, explainable feedback for users

* Implementing monitoring, observability, and evaluation pipelines

* Designing safeguards such as confidence thresholds and human review processes

* Building APIs and deploying scalable solutions in the cloud

* Contributing to system architecture and technical direction

The Ideal Candidate

You’re an experienced AI/ML engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and takes pride in building systems that are robust and maintainable.

You’ll likely have:

* Around 4+ years’ experience in AI/ML engineering (or a relevant PhD with industry exposure)

* A track record of delivering end-to-end ML systems in production

* Strong Python programming skills, with experience building reliable backend systems and APIs

* Hands-on experience with LLMs and modern AI workflows

* Experience with evaluation frameworks and model optimisation

* Familiarity with testing, observability, and experimentation practices

* Experience deploying to cloud environments (AWS preferred)

* A solid understanding of fairness, privacy, and model integrity

* Confidence working in a fast-paced, small team

Where to Advertise AI Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise AI jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards and communities that reach AI engineers, ML scientists and applied research talent in the UK. The candidate pool is small, highly informed and in demand across multiple sectors simultaneously. General job boards reach a broad audience but lack the specificity that AI professionals expect — and the filtering mechanisms they rely on. Specialist platforms, direct outreach and academic channels each serve a different part of the market. This guide, published by ArtificialIntelligenceJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise AI roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about time-to-hire across different role types.

AI Jobs UK 2026: What to Expect Over the Next 3 Years

AI Jobs UK 2026: roles, salaries and the generative AI, machine learning and applied AI hiring trends shaping UK artificial intelligence careers. Artificial intelligence is creating jobs faster than the market can name them. New roles are appearing every quarter, existing titles are splitting into specialisms, and the technologies underpinning it all are evolving at a pace that makes even last year's job descriptions feel dated. For job seekers, this presents a genuinely unusual challenge. In most industries, career planning means understanding a relatively stable landscape and working out where you fit within it. In AI, the landscape itself is being redrawn in real time. The roles with the most hiring activity in 2028 may not yet have a widely agreed job title in 2026. That's not a reason to feel overwhelmed — it's a reason to get informed. The candidates who thrive in this market aren't necessarily those with the longest CVs or the most credentials. They're the ones who understand the direction of travel: which skills are gaining value, which technologies are driving employer decisions, and how the definition of an "AI job" is expanding well beyond the tech sector. This article breaks down what the UK AI jobs market is likely to look like over the next three years — covering emerging job titles, the technologies reshaping hiring, the skills employers are prioritising, and how to position yourself ahead of the curve rather than behind it.
