Are you an experienced AI Engineer who wants to take technical ownership of a new AI platform, rather than simply integrate existing models into applications?

We're working with a growing SaaS business developing intelligent document-processing technology for the legal sector.

They have an established product and are now investing in a new AI layer that will transform how users analyse documents, automate workflows and make complex decisions.

This is an opportunity to work closely with the CTO, shape the technical architecture and take a hands-on role in building production AI systems.

The Opportunity

You'll take technical ownership of AI functionality being developed within an existing SaaS platform.

The challenge isn't simply getting an LLM to produce an answer. It's designing systems that deliver accurate, reliable recommendations, work with complex data and can be maintained and improved in production.

You'll be involved in:

*

Designing the architecture for new AI-powered features and services.

*

Building production AI/ML systems using Python, NLP and LLM technologies.

*

Developing intelligent document-processing and information-extraction capabilities.

*

Integrating LLMs and retrieval-based approaches into existing product workflows.

*

Designing systems that incorporate user feedback to improve recommendations over time.

*

Making architectural decisions around scalability, reliability, latency and cost.

*

Building and optimising data pipelines, model evaluation and monitoring.

*

Working closely with the CTO and wider engineering team, providing technical direction while remaining hands-on.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in engineers who have moved beyond prototypes and have genuine experience designing, deploying and maintaining AI systems used in production.

You'll ideally bring:

*

Strong commercial Python engineering experience.

*

Significant experience building and deploying AI/ML applications in production.

*

Experience designing the architecture of complex AI systems.

*

Hands-on experience with NLP, LLMs and modern AI technologies.

*

Strong understanding of data engineering and cloud infrastructure.

*

Experience building reliable, scalable applications with demanding performance requirements.

*

The ability to explain technical decisions and assess different architectural approaches.

*

Confidence taking ownership of projects and guiding other engineers technically.

Experience with knowledge graphs, ontologies, recommendation systems, human-in-the-loop learning or LLM fine-tuning would be particularly interesting.

You don't necessarily need to have held an Architect or Technical Lead title. What's important is that you've demonstrated the ability to take ownership of technically complex systems and deliver them into production.

Salary & Benefits

*

Salary: Up to £100,000, depending on experience.

*

Bonus: Up to 10% annual performance-related bonus.

*

Remote working: Fully remote within the UK.

*

Holiday: 25 days annual leave plus UK public holidays.

*

Private healthcare: Bupa medical and dental cover.

*

Pension: 3% employer contribution, with 5% employee contribution.

*

Working hours: Eight-hour working day.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

*

Take ownership of the AI architecture within an established SaaS product.

*

Work directly with a technically hands-on CTO.

*

Have genuine influence over technical decisions and implementation.

*

Solve interesting challenges involving document intelligence, LLMs, knowledge graphs and learning from user feedback.

*

Join a growing engineering team with ambitious plans for its AI capabilities.

*

Combine hands-on engineering with the opportunity to provide technical leadership.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced AI Engineer, AI Architect or Technical Lead who enjoys solving difficult engineering problems and wants to build AI systems that make a genuine difference to how people work

What Is an AI Forward Deployed Engineer? The Fastest-Growing Job in AI for 2026

If you have been watching AI job boards over the past year, one title keeps surfacing again and again: the forward deployed engineer, or FDE. It has gone from a niche term known mainly to Palantir alumni to arguably the hottest role in the entire AI hiring market. Job postings for forward deployed engineers have exploded, salaries have climbed past levels most software engineers will ever see, and the biggest names in AI — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Salesforce, Databricks and Palantir — are all competing for the same small pool of talent. So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
