Standard 8 are recruiting a Proclaim andAI Integration Developer for an established professional financial services business in the Greater Manchester area.

They've made a serious investment in automation and applied AI and are now adding another developer to the team responsible for building and improving the technology behind it.

This is a hands-on development role. You'll be building software, integrations and automated workflows that connect core business applications with newer AI tooling.

The role

You'll work across a mixture of new development and existing production systems.

A typical project could involve understanding an operational problem, working out how the underlying systems and data need to interact, building the solution and then taking responsibility for getting it safely into production.

The environment coversapplication development, APIs, relational databases, integrations, automation and AI-enabled workflows. You won't be boxed into purely front-end or back-end development.

AI development tools are already part of the team's engineering workflow. You'll use them to accelerate development, but you'll still be responsible for the quality of what gets released. The business wants developers who understand the difference between using AI productively and blindly shipping generated code.

What you'll be doing

You'll design and develop internal applications, automated processes and integrations between business systems.

That will include working with APIs and webhooks, manipulating data held in relational databases and developing services that move information between different applications.

You'll also help develop AI-enabled processes used by operational teams. Some will run automatically; others will require appropriate checks or human intervention.

Once something goes live, it remains an engineering responsibility. You'll be involved in testing, releases, monitoring and troubleshooting production issues.

When something breaks, you'll need to be comfortable following the problem through several layers — application, API, integration and database — rather than assuming the problem belongs to somebody else.

What we're looking for

You'll already have commercial software development experience and be comfortable working across several parts of an application.

You'll need:

• Strong relational database and SQL skills.
• Experience developing and integrating APIs.
• Experience working with third-party systems and integrations.
• A good understanding of data structures and how information moves between applications.
• Experience working across both front-end and back-end development.
• Practical experience using modern AI development or coding tools.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting software running in production.
• An understanding of testing, source control and software release processes.
• The ability to turn a business requirement into a practical technical solution.
• Enough independence to take a piece of work from initial discussion through to release.

The technology

The team works with a mixture ofPython and modern web technologies, alongside APIs, workflow automation and established business applications.

You don't need to have worked with every technology in the environment.

What's more important is that you've built real software, understand databases and integrations, and can get up to speed with an unfamiliar system without needing everything documented for you.

Experience with workflow automation, CI/CD, authentication, desktop applications or cloud-based business systems would all be useful.

The person

You'll probably enjoy this role if you're interested in what happens when software meets actual business operations.

The technical challenge isn't simply writing code. It's understanding how people use a process, where the data comes from, what other systems depend on it and what happens when something fails.

It's a relatively small development environment, so you'll have genuine ownership of your work. You'll need to be comfortable making decisions, investigating problems and pointing out when an existing process could be improved.

You should also have a sensible attitude towards AI. The business is investing in it and wants to move quickly, but reliability still matters. Knowing when automation needs controls, checks or a human involved is part of the job.
