HEAD OF FRAUD

London, Hybrid | 110-120k

This is an opportunity to take ownership of fraud strategy within a fast-growing digital financial services business. You will combine fraud leadership with hands-on data science and AI, building intelligent fraud prevention capabilities that protect customers while supporting sustainable growth.

You will join at an important stage of growth, with significant scope to shape how fraud prevention develops across the organisation.

THE ROLE

As Head of Fraud, you will own the fraud strategy, combining strategic leadership with hands-on technical delivery. You will:

  • Define fraud strategy across customer, document, third-party and asset-related risks.
  • Build and deploy AI-driven fraud identification capabilities using multiple data sources.
  • Develop fraud classifiers, anomaly detection, document intelligence and network analysis solutions.
  • Use machine learning and AI to identify emerging threats, including synthetic identities and sophisticated application fraud.
  • Own the production of fraud models, including testing, CI/CD, monitoring, governance and human oversight.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Credit, Operations and Collections to embed effective fraud controls.
  • Assess new fraud techniques and vulnerabilities, translating emerging threats into practical controls.
  • Deliver fraud analytics and management information to demonstrate losses, prevention performance and overall risk exposure.
  • Build relationships across the UK fraud and financial services community to strengthen intelligence sharing.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

You will have:

  • Strong commercial experience in fraud prevention or financial crime within UK consumer lending or financial services.
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying fraud or risk models into production.
  • Advanced Python and SQL skills alongside strong machine learning knowledge.
  • Practical experience working with LLMs, agentic AI or AI-driven decisioning, including evaluation, guardrails and governance.
  • Strong understanding of Git, testing, CI/CD, cloud environments and model monitoring.
  • The ability to balance fraud prevention with customer experience and commercial outcomes.
  • Experience translating complex fraud and technical topics for both technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • A strong understanding of the UK fraud landscape and emerging financial crime threats.
