Data Scientist – Contract | GCP | AI/ML | LLM | RAG

Introduction

We are recruiting for a Data Scientist to join a technology-focused delivery environment, supporting the development, evaluation and implementation of AI, machine learning and cloud-based application solutions.

This contract opportunity is ideal for a Data Scientist with experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), machine learning, Large Language Models (LLMs) and technical solution delivery. You will work alongside project managers, developers and technical stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable and well-documented solutions.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and evaluate AI and machine learning solutions, including classical ML models and LLM-based applications.

* Apply problem framing, AI/ML performance metrics, experiment design and model evaluation techniques.

* Support prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts and model documentation.

* Gather business and technical requirements, identifying dependencies across applications and processes.

* Contribute to application solution design, coding, configuration and technical reviews.

* Review code quality, troubleshoot technical issues and implement improvements.

* Perform root cause analysis to resolve recurring application and software problems.

* Support application integration, deployment, configuration validation and performance optimisation.

* Collaborate with project managers and technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

* Produce technical documentation, user guidance and implementation materials.

Essential Skills and Experience

* Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud engineering.

* Strong understanding of data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

* Experience with classical machine learning and Large Language Model evaluation.

* Knowledge of prompt engineering, RAG, experiment design and model cards.

* Experience supporting software development, application integration and technical troubleshooting.

* Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.

* Strong stakeholder communication, documentation and problem-solving skills.
