Computational Scientist - Deep Tech

Newton Colmore is proud to be working with a venture that sits at the intersection of AI, biology, and advanced process engineering. We are assisting them in their search for a computational scientist to play a foundational role in the development of their data-rich product.

This is a rare opportunity to join a highly ambitious, venture-backed team transforming complex industrial processes into intelligent, predictable, and controllable systems. The successful candidate will help build the modelling and machine learning capabilities that underpin a platform that aims to transform how process data is viewed and utilised.

The position offers significant autonomy, technical ownership, and a clear path for growth.

As a computational scientist, you will own the development of advanced computational models spanning mechanistic process understanding, machine learning, digital twin technology, and real-time predictive intelligence.

Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, you will apply cutting-edge mathematics, modelling, and AI techniques to solve complex industrial challenges with real-world impact.

The role will also provide an opportunity to build novel predictive models using advanced sensor technology, then looping the data back to the engineering and science teams to ensure that constant iterations and alterations can be made.

We are looking for candidates with strong mathematics fundamentals, ideally applying them within a highly complex scientific and engineering field. This will be complemented by experience with working on digital twin technology, simulation platform sand predictive process models.

Any additional experience with industrial monitoring applications and/or chemical manufacturing would be highly advantageous.

In their pursuit of hiring outstanding engineers and scientists, the company are offering a competitive package with share options and the potential to help with relocation (case by case basis). This mixed with direct access to the founders, and investors, it could be a great destination for the next part of your career, working on something that is aiming to be truly transformational.

For a confidential discussion regarding this opportunity, please apply with an up-to-date CV detailing relevant modelling, machine learning, or computational science experience and a member of our team will be in touch with more details.

What Is an AI Forward Deployed Engineer? The Fastest-Growing Job in AI for 2026

If you have been watching AI job boards over the past year, one title keeps surfacing again and again: the forward deployed engineer, or FDE. It has gone from a niche term known mainly to Palantir alumni to arguably the hottest role in the entire AI hiring market. Job postings for forward deployed engineers have exploded, salaries have climbed past levels most software engineers will ever see, and the biggest names in AI — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Salesforce, Databricks and Palantir — are all competing for the same small pool of talent. So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
