Teamworking for the planet

Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. So, naturally, the team you’ll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen. Here’s how:

We’ve made good progress on the UK’s path to net zero. But we can do better. Research shows that 100% renewable energy tariffs aren't actually making the grid greener. We have to go further. We need to save energy, use power at smarter times of the day and look at other ways to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint.

That’s where our Zero Carbon Living (ZCL) business comes in. To become the UK’s decarbonisation partner, ZCL will be the key driver in everything we do over and above our energy offer.

We’re forming, incubating and growing new ideas that will change the way our customers consume energy. We’ll look at everything on their decarbonisation journey - from home and heating, to transport, solar and battery. We’ll work like a start up- using our entrepreneurial, OVO Way spirit to drive us forward. And we’ll be flexible about how we do it - trying new things, growing the ones that work and learning new, green skills as we go.

This role in a nutshell:

Sat within our growing ZCL team, the Energy Expert Lead will develop and scale our flagship Energy Expert proposition that drives expert advice, education and fulfilment options to improve customers’ home efficiency (e.g. insulation, heating, solar PV).

We believe that in order to decarbonise customers' homes, we need to take them on a journey, providing the most impactful and affordable products for each customer, whilst recognising that each person's journey is different. This could be through building improvements and hardware installation, or software innovations that support customers to reduce energy consumption, and intelligently heat/power their homes whilst reducing energy bills.

The role is responsible for shaping our long-term Energy Expert business plan, and has full P&L accountability - owning the proposition, commercials, strategic direction and go to market plan. You’ll also have accountability for running the DEA (domestic energy advisor) teams, ensuring that the digital and in-home proposition is engaging and offers great value to our customers.

We expect the Energy Experts proposition to significantly scale in span and complexity, and the role will evolve to reflect this.

Your key outcomes will be:

The role holder will scale, digitise and lead our in-home proposition development, covering the Energy Expert demand generation, booking experience, in-home visit, the evolution of our ‘Home Health Report’ and post-visit communication strategy to support customers on their decarbonisation journey

Develop and own the Energy Expert business strategy that helps define OVO’s path to Zero within customer homes Lead and own the end to end go to market strategy. Manage demand and supply - work with our Growth and product marketing colleagues to ensure our Domestic Energy Advisors (DEAs) diaries are booked, creating attractive propositions that drive significant growth and customer adoption. Work with our DEA specialist leaders to selectively recruit and scale our national coverage Carefully select and evolve the propositions that go on to decarbonise homes, working with ZCL teams to ensure we have the very best products and journeys for our customers Retain the proposition’s trust and credibility - hand-picked DEAs, objective advice Create an engaging in-home visit experience, managing and developing relationships with existing and new partners in the home efficiency space. Create the leading digital ‘Home Health Report’ experience, building on and digitisising the initial proposition to create a scalable proposition that brings to life a home’s ‘path to zero’ Build the necessary operational and customer care capabilities, working with our Care, Ops and Delivery teams to ensure we deliver excellent customer experiences across the end-to-end customer journey - from purchase to home visit and follow-up activitie Work closely with the product and tech teams to create the customer journeys required to drive scale and profitability. Work with our Data colleagues to create the ‘Home Data Product’ and integrate home efficiency data into our customer experience, working with our data science team and award winning Energy Insights product Maintain the Energy Experts budget and manage the commercial performance. Own the business and customer economics. Own [in partnership with the finance business partner] the weekly/monthly reporting, including P&L performance vs budget and a detailed understanding of unit economics. Own and demonstrate the carbon savings benefits for our customers. Evaluate and own risks, challenges and opportunities, making recommendations on future strategy. Represent OVO at external industry events to help build its profile and reputation as a tech leader in this space.

You’ll be a successful ZCL Commercial Lead (Energy Experts)hereat OVO if you…
