Vice President, Inclusive Innovation & Analytics, Center for Inclusive Growth

The Center for Inclusive Growth is the social impact hub at Mastercard. The organization seeks to ensure that the benefits of an expanding economy accrue to all segments of society. Through actionable research, impact data science, programmatic grants, stakeholder engagement and global partnerships, the Center advances equitable and sustainable economic growth and financial inclusion around the world. The Center’s work is at the heart of Mastercard’s objective to be a force for good in the world.

The Vice President, Inclusive Innovation & Analytics (VP) is a new position at the Center for Inclusive Growth and will build and oversee a portfolio of initiatives and partnerships to ensure that new technologies, such as AI and data innovation, enable inclusive growth. At a high level, this role will 1) engage externally on shaping the Center’s leadership in technology; 2) inform and influence Mastercard and the Center’s technology strategy to drive increased impact; and 3) build internal tools and processes to improve the Center’s ability to harness data, AI and other emerging technology.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Global Programs, the VP will manage a team of two Directors focused on Impact Data Science.

Role:

  1. Develop and execute a new inclusive innovation strategy which helps the Center retain and strengthen its leadership position in the tech for good space;
  2. Actively participate in technical communities and conversations to influence emerging trends, social impact use cases and breakthroughs in the field;
  3. Anticipate and cultivate new opportunities where the Center can harness technology for inclusive growth;
  4. Drive a strategy, use cases, solutions and team that advance the field of impact data science;
  5. Institutionalize data driven decisioning across the Center and its partner and grantee network;
  6. Advise Mastercard business units on the social impact dimensions of data, AI and cyber products and services;
  7. Partner with funders, private sector leaders, academic experts, and policy makers to incentivize inclusive and responsible data, AI and cybersecurity programs and practices;
  8. Design, plan and implement technical briefings and integrate technical insights into philanthropic and business strategies;
  9. Evaluate opportunities, risks and challenges associated with emerging technology implementation, and where appropriate, propose mitigation strategies to ensure inclusive growth;
  10. Plan and implement technical advising projects across the team, collecting and evaluating technical information and providing decision-makers with recommendations of easily digestible trade-offs when trying to develop solutions to often complex problems;
  11. Bolster the technological competencies, especially AI, of the Center and its network;
  12. Harness Mastercard’s human capital and technology for social impact.

All about You:

  1. Data scientist or equivalent
  2. Experienced innovator and implementer as evidenced by direct leadership of complex projects, senior roles in product development or other comparable experiences
  3. Public, private and social sector experience
  4. Strong, established network in the tech for good field
  5. Familiarity with and passion for solving the world’s biggest economic challenges through technology, innovation and data.
  6. Significant technical expertise, track record and network in emerging technology, especially artificial intelligence.
  7. Experience with machine learning methods and data mining, utilizing advanced analytical techniques, algorithms, and methodologies (Python, R, SAS, etc.).
  8. Proven skills in visioning, planning and executing the strategic deployment of analytical systems, products, applications and data to support a complex organization and ambitious social impact agenda
  9. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix organization.
  10. Ability to translate complex information into actionable insights.
  11. Attention to detail and ability to work with urgency.
  12. Ability to develop and foster a collaborative team environment and manage people effectively.
  13. Good understanding of global privacy, data protection and AI regulatory principles and standards.
  14. Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment
  15. Excellent English oral and written communication skills, including well developed public speaking skills
