Our experienced Utilities team have a brand-new role for a Utilities Technical Coordinator to provide support for programmes that manage the impacts of utilities works for major capital projects. Working within our fast-paced, cross functional directorate, you will play a key role in managing projects and working closely with stakeholders and utility providers to ensure efficient management of utility diversions.
Working on highly impactful projects including Metro Birmingham East side, Metro Wednesbury Brierly Hill extension and Sprint, you will apply your technical expertise and guidance to ensure that projects are delivered successfully on time and within budget. This role calls for a confident individual who isnt afraid to challenge the status quo, uses initiative, and approaches tasks with a proactive, can-do attitude.
What you will be doing Support the Utilities Manager in oversight and delivery of major utility works
Work collaboratively across TfWM and Statutory Undertakers to support the delivery of the utilitys elements of major infrastructure projects
Apply relevant standards, Codes of Practice and legislation in the management, mitigation and delivery of major works to utilities
Support in a procurement and commercial context to manage the financial and programme impacts of utility works to infrastructure programmes
Support budget management activities to ensure that financial administration, monitoring and reporting is of the highest standard
Production of the applications of diversion requests
Provide general technical and commercial support
Manage and maintain a combined advanced utility diversion schedule
Report project progress to project sponsors
Raise works orders and facilitate application payments, invoices and keep appropriate financial records up to date.
Whats essential Experience of partnership working within a multi-disciplinary organisation and collaboration with both internal and external organisations to manage major infrastructure projects
Experience of working with key stakeholders both internally and externally
Understanding of C1 - C9 processes associated with utility works as set out in The New Roads and Street Works Act
Understanding of procurement of contestable utilities works, including tender development, NEC contract management and early contractor involvement
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Good analytical skills and able to review information and determine the best approach.

Hybrid working and location. The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane, with regular site visits required. It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 4 days a week spent in the office. Please note, this is the minimum expectation.
