Technical Documentation Lead (S1000D)

 

This role is part of the management team for a project generating user operation and maintenance instructions for commercial and military marine equipment to the S1000D standard. As the Technical Documentation Lead, reporting to the Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of technically focused tasks that meet project and customer specifications. Leveraging your expertise, you will provide strategic technical guidance, make key decisions, and drive the team's development. In this role, you will champion process and operational improvements, fostering an engaged and high-performing team that achieves outstanding results.


What You Will Do:

  • Manage the customer and internal technical relationships.
  • Act as the operational and day-to-day technical expert and key point of contact.
  • Monitor and execute to ensure quality and project KPI are successfully met.
  • Develop process, training, and production methods, successfully deploying within the organisation to support efficiency gains.
  • Work directly with the PM to create development strategies to ensure continuity of capability within the organisation to support the project and service
  • Work with and support the wider company organisation to understand customer needs and develop solutions for new business opportunities.
  • Review technology and software solutions to support automation and enhance offering to our customers.

 

To Be Successful You Will Have:

 

  • UK nationality and no known reason why DBS clearance may not be granted.
  • Senior technical documentation experience in a Defense or Industrial/Manufacturing setting.
  • Experience of leading a team in a technical and development-based role.
  • Hands-on experience of developing production processes in the delivery of projects and operational efficiency.
  • Up-to-date knowledge and experience of industry specifications and guidelines, including S1000D and STE.
  • Knowledge of industry technology and specifications in support of content creation and technical documentation.
  • Ideally, experience of creating and editing DMRLs.
  • Experience with Ultra CSDB and Trilogi would also be advantageous.
