EY’s UK Financial Services Tax Technology and Transformation (TTT) business is a rapidly growing team of technology, data science, business transformation and tax professionals that help financial services organisations to redefine their tax operations and functions, driving transformation for the digital age.

The opportunity
We are expanding our team of tax technologists within the UK Financial Services TTT business to reflect the growing demand for tax technology related change and transformation projects across our client portfolio. The role will focus on enabling our clients to transform their business processes across a range of tax domains (including direct, indirect and product tax) through the effective use of tax technologies, data strategies and automation capabilities.

Your key responsibilities

  • Subject matter expertise including solution/vendor evaluations, design, implementation and configuration of technology and data orientated solutions
  • Evaluates tax function business models, processes and operations to develop a good comprehension of business needs and requirements
  • Analyse and evaluate tax business requirements and translates into tax and IT technical requirements and specifications
  • Produces technical specifications to guide system architectural design and development and conducts quality assurance tasks
  • Interacts with business stakeholders in both the tax practice and the IT function to gather and document business requirements
  • Analyses reports and assessments to provide insights on whether a solution/technology meets overall business requirements
  • Embedding and sustaining tax data quality standards in financial systems to enhance tax processes and operations
  • Contribute to business case development and support RFP responses.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Proven experience gathering and interpreting tax function requirements
  • Proven experience developing technical requirements and specifications
  • Experience applying Lean Six Sigma and Business Process Modelling and Notation
  • Experienced in the development and/or implementation of tax technology solutions
  • Ability to manage the successful delivery of technically complex consulting projects
  • Project and programme management skills
  • Build valuable relationships both within EY and with client stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Drive to deliver the highest quality output
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives with agility
  • Interest in understanding and developing knowledge of ERP software and Cloud-computing platforms

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A university degree. ACA/CTA or equivalent qualifications are preferable but not essential
  • Substantial previous experience working in a technology or business transformation role
  • Experience in the development and/or implementation of tax technology solutions
  • Be a “builder” or “architect” who can thrive in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience of a similar role within a comparable firm to EY is preferred
  • Willingness to travel within the UK or abroad

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience working in financial services
  • Experience of ERP software
  • Broad knowledge of tax compliance reporting requirements
