The Role & Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of specialists in data science, predictive modelling and machine learning.
  • Advance analytical techniques to generate insights from complex data holdings and support data‑informed decision making at all levels.
  • Work alongside data engineering, pipelines, flows and visualisation teams.
  • Maintain close relationships with performance and research leads.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in statistics, mathematics or a related discipline.
  • Experience as a BI developer or data scientist.
  • Strong data modelling background with multiple cloud and on‑premise data sources.
  • Power BI/ Microsoft Analytics solutions experience, including enterprise architecture, governance, rollout and adoption.
  • Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Analysis Services and Power BI embedded.
  • Proficiency in Python and R, including modern notebook environments.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying, view creation, functions and stored procedures.
  • Experience gathering BI requirements and working with business stakeholders.
  • Experience building dashboards, reports and cubes using SQL, MDX, DAX, Power BI or other visualisation tools.
  • Dimensional modelling experience, ideally for financial services and public sector.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Self‑management and the ability to work dynamically, adapt and influence across the organisation.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities, negotiate solutions and resolve problems with colleagues and customers.
