Research Officer and Data Scientist - CHILI

We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. 

Shift pattern – Monday to Friday, rotation to cover later Tuesday clinics and/or cover Friday afternoon clinics. Shifts consist of four 8 hour shifts and a shorter day to make the working week up to 37 hours, this day is not a set day but taken when service provision allows. It is essential that you are currently a NMC Registered Adult Nurse.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Outpatients infectious diseases service as a practitioner in the role of Staff Nurse.
The Brownlee Outpatient service provides scheduled care to those patients referred to the service from GPs, inpatient care environments and other departments within GGC. There is provision of care for general infectious diseases patients and also those living with a long term disease, for example HIV and/or another blood borne virus.
Travel services are carried out within the department and encompass both pre and post travel, the nurse will be supported by Travel specialists and carry out vaccinations and give post vaccination advice when necessary to the patient.
An OPD staff nurse is a registered nurse who has the capability to learn and take forward specialist knowledge and experience. As well as having completed, or demonstrated the ability to complete, a primary degree they will have opportunity to learn whilst in post and take advantage of the knowledge that the large OPD multidisciplinary team can offer.
As a member of the Outpatients team they are responsible for ensuring a high standard of care to patients with complex, long term and short term infection treatment.
The nurse carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of care and the setting of standards. The nurse will be responsible for pre clinic preparation for OPD nurse led clinics, post exposure needlestick and rabies exposure patients care planning and have a shared responsibility to ensure compliance to the cold chain in regards to vaccine stock control and fridge temperature stability.
You are able to competently perform the necessary technical/physical aspects of care for this defined patient group to carry out vaccinations, venipuncture and phlebotomy skills.
As a OPD staff nurse , you will provide patient and/or family education in outpatient settings to maintain the condition and prevent the need for hospital admission.

You must have the ability to work independently and possess a high level of interpersonal and confident communication skills to support this specific client group, whilst upholding confidentiality at all times. You will work within the team to assess individual patients when they attend scheduled and unscheduled appointments.
You will participate in service development in conjunction with the Team lead and maintain service objectives to meet the changing demands of delivering specialised care to patients with long term disease, those with general Infectious Diseases infection and the provision of both pre and post travel services.
You will be expected to contribute professionally within the large multidisciplinary groups which may cross-traditional or service boundaries and possess a high level of ITC skills including e- forms, Trakcare and portal.
All Statutory / Mandatory LearnPro training modules must be compliant and include educational modules relevant to this specialty.
