ML Data Scientist for Student Analytics & Impact

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

As a Staff Data Scientist you will be part of a team that is bringing AI and Data Science into the forefront of SB. We are looking to unify our technical vision and are looking for an experienced, technical but pragmatic Staff Data Scientist to enable our wider team to deliver value, quickly.


The role will report into Josh Dawson, our Head of Analytics and Data Science, and sit alongside our talented Data Science team.


As our Staff Data Scientist, you’ll:

  • work closely with cross‑functional development teams to build, test and maximise the value of a suite of models ranging use cases from LLMs to propensity, classification and regression models
  • contribute to end‑to‑end development and deployment of ML and AI models
  • have the ability to define best practice for a team of highly talented and experienced Data Scientists
  • have the opportunity to work with stakeholders in a high‑pace, agile environment which encourages autonomy and growth.
  • simply, this role will have autonomy to create best practices for the technical side of Data Science here at SB and in partnership with multiple stakeholders drive value into SB

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • extraordinary with 7+ years of experience as a Data Scientist/ML Engineer, working on classic ML and Data Science problems as well as Generative AI
  • someone who sees Data Science as a product, not just as a series of models
  • is adept and passionate about all forms of technology, particularly versed in deployment and software engineering principles
  • proud to have deployed many real‑time models
  • in reality, we want someone to come in and help us build the future of ML/AI here at SB, both hands on and training our bigger organisation to make the most out of real‑time modelling
