WHAT IS THE ROLE?

We are creating a new team within Newton: the AI Hub. The AI Hub is focused on bringing proven AI and data science to solve real-world problems and deliver value to our clients across various sectors and challenges. It's about identifying new opportunities to deliver value for our clients by leveraging data, insights, and automation. It's about setting Newton up to take advantage of AI now and into the future, in line with our values of professionalism with respect, exceptional performance and love our people. By integrating AI, we will create a unique place for Newton with our focus on outcomes in a market that is becoming increasingly saturated with AI narratives without the evidence of the value they deliver.

As part of the AI Hub, you will work closely with other AI experts, software engineers, consultants, and clients to design, develop, and deliver practical solutions that make a difference. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, such as optimizing operations, enhancing customer experience, and predicting outcomes. You will also have the chance to learn from and collaborate with some of the best minds in the consulting industry and grow your skills and expertise in a supportive and dynamic environment.

As the Staff AI Consultant, you will lead on how AI can be used to solve our clients’ biggest problems and how it can deliver measurable impact. You will work hand-in-hand with our AI Director to deliver maximum impact from AI for our clients and Newton. You will be leading a team of skilled AI consultants who will be responsible for delivering sustainable outcomes for our clients. The team of AI consultants will be on various client projects. We expect this to be a hybrid role with UK based travel to client sites.

As a Staff AI Consultant, you will also be responsible for identifying, and managing high-impact projects that involve multiple stakeholders and deliver value to the clients and the consultancy. You will need to communicate effectively with internal and external partners, understand their needs and expectations, and align them with the project objectives and deliverables. You will leverage your expertise and experience in AI to provide guidance and support to your team and the clients throughout the project lifecycle, and to ensure that the project outcomes meet the highest standards of excellence and ethics.

You will be responsible for helping to build and develop a high-performing team of AI experts, who can deliver cutting-edge solutions and insights to the clients. You will mentor and coach your team members and provide them with regular feedback and career development opportunities. Empower your team to take ownership of their projects and to innovate and experiment with new approaches and technologies. And finally, recognize and reward your team's achievements and contributions, and celebrate their successes with the project team and the AI hub.

You will bring positive energy to your work and you will want to excel in your field. You will know how AI can be part of a complete solution that involves process change, people change and technology change. You will communicate in a simple and engaging way, ensuring clear and transparent updates with clients and colleagues. You will have a good understanding of stakeholder management and work with the programme Directors to set the AI team up for success on a client programme.

Your role will be to:

Be a known figure in the field of AI/Data Science, recognized externally for their thought leadership and influential presence on platforms like LinkedIn, where they are a leading voice in the AI community. Impact the trajectory of a client programme, a market and/or a sector by working on the most impactful problems and bringing about effective change Support the AI Director in business development and internal innovation initiatives creating a backlog of AI opportunities across our sectors Ensure the team are engaged, challenged and enabled, playing a leading role in creating the right team culture to deliver impact Link the technical contribution back to business impact and lead the project/Cluster/market teams to buy into this Lead highly complex projects of critical impact and balances engineering, operational, regulatory and other priorities across their scope Play a key role in AI ethics, its governance and compliance

YOUR EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

We will be looking for a range of technical and commercial abilities in our preferred candidates which includes:

Proven track record of designing AI solutions that have a clear link to a client, market or proposition need Leads the solution and architecture designs of our most complex AI products Ability to set the direction of solutions that involve descriptive, predictive analytics, forecasting, simulation, optimisation and causal inference models. Confident in setting out overall AI vision in collaboration with the Director on a company-wide scale, which can grow and flex effectively in line with business plans. Manage the delivery of AI consultants and engineers to deliver these solutions to plan with the client programme team’s leadership. Has agile focused project design and management skills Manage and develop a team of highly capable data scientists, supporting them to deliver and grow their career Creates a culture of quality within the wider team. Champions measures to define and embed best practice for data science and AI, including technical and ethical considerations Works closely with the Principal Data Scientists, Directors and Partners to support business development Considered an expert in their area by peers, with demonstrable experience through LinkedIn, GitHub, etc Proficiency in using programming languages and tools for data analysis, such as Python, SQL, Spark, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc. Knowledge of Docker, DevOps, Secure by Design, cloud computing, APIs
