An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Clinical Photographer, specialising in Ophthalmology, to join the team working within the Gartnavel General Hospital, Glasgow, as part of Medical Illustration Services, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

You will provide a professional ophthalmic and clinical service, delivering high quality patient care in a safe and secure environment, and will contribute to the development of staff and services (through training, quality control and performance review).

Extensive ophthalmic imaging experience is essential, as the successful candidate will be required to support and help develop a well-established ophthalmic imaging service across NHS GGC. Previous experience of working with both adults and children is desirable.

Applicants should be motivated, conscientious, with excellent interpersonal skills. It is essential you are educated to degree-level in ophthalmic imaging / clinical photography, be on the national AHCS register, and have full membership of a professional body.

The post is full-time, 37 hours per week (5 days over 7, 365 days per year incl. PHs; requires 7.5 hrs and 12 hr shift working). The successful candidate will be based primarily at GGH, however, will be required to provide cross cover clinical services to other sites within GGC. A full driving license and own transport is essential.

Candidates should be on the Accredited Register for Medical Illustrators (AHCS)

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
