Salary: £40,000-£60,000 depending on experience

From automating complex artwork manipulation and streamlining responses to customer queries to identifying proactive opportunities to improve the end‑to‑end user experience, you will play a crucial role in using AI to enhance the online customer journey,

About the Role

We’re looking for a Software Engineer who lives and breathes Artificial Intelligence — someone who’s excited by the rapid evolution of models, prompt engineering, and intelligent systems. You’ll work on cutting‑edge projects involving AI model integration, fine‑tuning, and deployment, helping shape how humans and machines collaborate.


This role is perfect for a builder who’s not afraid to experiment, iterate, and stay ahead of the curve in an AI‑driven world.


What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and refine AI‑driven applications, APIs, and tools.
  • Develop and optimise prompts, data pipelines, and workflows for large language models (LLMs).
  • Develop and integrate a wide range of AI and machine learning models beyond LLMs, including computer vision and multimodal systems.
  • Collaborate with product and research teams to fine‑tune models and deliver solutions tailored to specific use cases.
  • Implement scalable, reliable solutions using modern engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, and effective version‑control workflows.
  • Utilise AWS services for deployment management, and maintenance to ensure performance, security, and high availability.
  • Build responsive, user‑friendly front‑end interfaces using modern frameworks.
  • Participate in team‑wide development processes, including code reviews, knowledge‑sharing sessions, and technical discussions.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and end users to deliver high‑quality, feature‑rich systems that automate processes and accelerate teams across the organisation.
  • Create and maintain AI‑powered internal tools that support engineering teams, such as workflow automation, intelligent assistants, and computer‑use agents that improve productivity.
  • Stay current with emerging AI/ML frameworks, LLM research, and best practices in AI safety and responsible development.

About You

AI & Machine Learning



  • Practical experience with AI/ML tools, frameworks, or model development.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering, model tuning, and evaluation techniques.
  • Familiarity with LLM orchestration and agent frameworks such as LangChain, Strands, AWS Agent Core (Agents for Bedrock), LlamaIndex, or similar.
  • Experience working with AI provider APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, AWS) and integrating them into production systems.
  • Interest or experience in agent‑first development environments such as Google Antigravity, Claude Code, or other AI‑powered IDEs that enhance software engineering workflows.
  • Passionate about exploring new frontiers in AI - you experiment, iterate, and continuously learn.

Software Engineering



  • Experience working in a modern software development environment with strong object‑oriented programming fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., C#, Python, Java, Go, or similar).
  • Experience with SQL databases (e.g., MSSQL, MySQL)
  • Comfortable with version control systems like Git and collaborative development practices.

Cloud & Deployment



  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure for deployment, scaling, and operational management.

In 2021, we acquired a luxury book printer, Kingsbury Press, branching out into the publishing industry and have aims of expanding into packaging solutions. In 2022 we were chosen as the printer for the Queen's Jubilee book.


Bluetree's combined office, production and training facilities are in Wath Upon Dearne, which is close to Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, and Doncaster. Our state‑of‑the‑art 165,000 square foot facility is just a 15‑minute drive from either the M1 or A1M and boasts ample free on‑site parking, the facility is also located on a major bus route which is just a few minutes away from the train stations of Mexborough, Swinton and Wombwell.
