Job Description

Role: Senior Software Engineer (AI) – Colleague Channels Platform

Salary: £90,440 - £106,400

LOCATION: Manchester.

HOURS: Full-time.

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week on-site and three days from home. Additionally, you can work from home all 5 days a week between the months of July and September each year.

If so, we are seeking an ambitious and proven Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Manchester. This role offers the chance to influence the way we craft, build, test, and deploy using brand new technology. Join our Lab and Lloyds engineering team to implement innovative solutions and advance product development.

What you will do…

Thought Leadership: Help embed and enhance our Software Engineering practices across the Lab whilst running key ceremonies like the Lab Engineering Chapter.

Architectural Design and Development: Lead the design and development of robust software solutions using modern web technologies.

Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to software engineers, encouraging a culture of improvement and innovation.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality and innovative products, ensuring alignment with business goals.

Code Quality and Standard Methodologies: Develop modular, testable code and ensure adherence to standard methodologies in source code management using Git.

Integration and Deployment: Utilise integration tools and cloud infrastructure to implement seamless solutions, ensuring smooth deployment processes.

Agile Methodologies: Champion agile development practices, including continuous integration and test automation (TDD, BDD, Playwright).

Skills and Experience:

We are looking for an adaptable individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and is eager to learn new skills and technologies. The ideal candidate will possess:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex challenges.

Java with SpringBoot or python

Delivering production grade ML models

Kubernetes and container management

Distributed and scalable applications principles

Building RESTful services and Web UI

Exposure to continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines and test automation

Exposure to public cloud infrastructure, data streaming and Spanner DB

Experience coaching and mentoring teams to adopt the best practices.

Experience of working as part of an agile team using agile practices and tooling such as Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence.

Ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable...

Some experience of curating and running production-scale ML pipelines.

Up to date with the latest developments in machine learning (LLMs).

ReactJS or knowledge of JavaScript, Nodejs, TypeScript

Experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure for deploying machine learning models.
