Our client is revolutionizing simulation training by making high-end simulation capabilities accessible to anyone, anywhere, at any time. Their innovative use of VR technology combined with data capture, analysis, and machine learning (ML) enables them to measure, evaluate, and predict human performance, thus improving training outcomes while reducing costs and carbon footprints.
Their customers are some of the biggest aerospace, defence, and renewable energy companies in the world. They work closely with them to deliver cutting-edge simulation solutions to their end users.
Purpose of role:
Their product enables customers to capture, store, analyse and present data insights on trainee performance during simulation sessions. The platform is integrated with a variety of client simulators to enhance training outcomes.
This role will lead the technical research and development of this product, and ensure its reliability for our customers.
Main Responsibilities:
The work would entail approximately 75% dev, and 25% lead activity working to an overall product manager. You will be joining the product team responsible for the research, development, and maintenance of their product.
You should be able to:
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to the Product Delivery Manager, providing guidance on technical solutions, feasibility, estimates and technical improvements.
- Lead the design and implementation of technical projects using established patterns, ensuring alignment with both company objectives and customer/user requirements.
- Resolve complex technical issues, provide expert consultation, and make informed technical decisions.
- Manage code reviews, maintain high coding standards, and ensure appropriate software design patterns are followed. Leading the effort to continually improve how software is built.
- Foster the need for a DevOps culture that includes continuous integration and automation where possible.
- Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements, pushing for the adoption of new technologies and processes that enhance product functionality and performance by clearly articulating the benefits to the business.
- Design both client and server-side architecture
- Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services using Python
- Help build front-end applications that have been designed by our customer experience team (if Fullstack)
- Design, optimise, and maintain databases (SQL and NoSQL) ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Write effective APIs for a range of client requirements
- Create or adopt best in class networking, security and data protection settings in both
- software development and infrastructure.
- Write and own accessible, comprehensive technical documentation and user guides
- Work with data scientists and analysts to constantly improve software and services
- Requirements/Qualifications to the role:
- Lead or senior dev experience as a full stack/backend developer.
- Experience with API development (.NET), Python and React
- 5+ years experience working with Microsoft Azure, especially with database functions
- Experience with CI/CD Pipelines like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or others
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or Arm/Bicep templates
- Good understanding of Service Oriented Architecture including Microservices
- Experience with code versioning tools like GitHub and different branching strategies
- Excellent communication and team working skills
- Degree in Computer Science or relevant field
- Able to work under pressure
