This is a highly technical role, and the role holder will need to create and develop a deep understanding of the Vector functionality and propose and design test strategies. Vector involves integration with machine learning models and has a built in cashflow engine and multiple versioning of models, which means for various model versions the calculation outputs will be different. The test strategy will have to include all the above complexities.

The role holder will need to be able to work independently to consider the testing framework and tools to be used for Vector and build the test framework and unit tests and prepare test reports for each release.

Vector outputs are used for various business requirements across KMC and Barclays, for example product pricing, headcount forecasts and securitisations. The accuracy of calculator outputs is very critical and will affect the overall credibility of the team.

  • Raising software defects with the developers and collaborating to resolve
  • Supporting the Credit Analytics team in planning and executing SIT, UAT and PIV.
  • Presenting suggestions for consideration for improvements to the engineering process
  • Identifying and raising project and business risks

Experience, Knowledge, Skills

  • The role holder must have demonstrable experience working in several test projects at a Senior level, with significant experience of building test frameworks and building automation scripts.
  • Confident to determine the right solutions, articulating ideas and helping the wider team to build an efficient testing framework for Vector.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work with teams from other business areas, specifically within Digital Services, to adopt patterns appropriate for Vector.
  • Ability to design test plans which influence the design and build of the software to ensure quality and coverage is considered as early as possible in the development cycle
  • Have an ability to understand end-to-end systems architectures, in order that appropriate level of test coverage is met at system test and system integration testing levels
  • Strong SQL querying skills and ability to interrogate and analyse databases and data structures.
  • Experience with UI Test Automation using Selenium
  • Experience testing Web Services and APIs using tools such as Postman and SoapUI
  • Ability to explore and traverse APIs, being familiar with Open API (Swagger) specifications

  • Ability reading and interpreting error logs in a variety of formats and stores to diagnose issues at all stages of development through to production
  • Ability to interpret and understand source code and source control change logs to gain greater insight into the scope of testing.
