Company Mission

In the future, almost everything we consume will simply materialise on our doorsteps – what we call “e-commerce” today will simply be “commerce” tomorrow. But if we continue on today’s trajectory, the growth of e-commerce risks damaging the environment, alienating our communities, and straining the bottom-line for small businesses.

Relay is an e-commerce-native logistics network. We are built from the ground up for environmental, social, and economic sustainability. By building from the ground up we are able to entirely rethink both the middle and last mile enabling us to reduce the number of miles driven to deliver each parcel, lower carbon emissions, and lower costs, all while channelling funds to community members.

At the same time, we’re fixing the last broken aspect of e-commerce for consumers: delivery. As shoppers, we should have complete control over when and how we receive our purchases, and we should be able to return unwanted items as easily as we ordered them. That’s why whenever you buy from a merchant powered by Relay, you’ll be able to reschedule your delivery at any time. And if you don’t like what you ordered, at the tap of a button we’ll send someone to pick it up.

To orchestrate this complex ballet, Relay relies on a wide range of technologies, from advanced routing and planning to sophisticated user experiences that guide our team members on the ground.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to own and drive the tech roadmap for our fleet of Last Mile Couriers. Our Last Mile couriers are at the frontline of Relay’s network, where the parcel makes its way to the end consumer. Your mission as Senior PM will be to deliver a best-in-class working experience for our Last Mile Couriers whilst driving down our cost base and delivering a step-change in delivery quality.

As the Senior Product Manager for Last Mile at Relay, you can expect to

  • Own the Product Roadmap for Last Mile: prioritise, scope and deliver any and all Tech initiatives which support the success of our Last Mile Fleet, from improving courier experience to optimising delivery quality and driving a cost-efficient fleet.

  • Work with user research, design and Operations to come up with initiatives which allow us to ‘level up’ the overall performance of our Last Mile fleet

  • Work with Design, Engineering and Data Science to ensure the scope of different features/releases is well defined and documented, and hold the tech team accountable for delivery

  • With your counterparts in Ops, be accountable for ensuring the Last Mile teams meet their quarterly and annual goals

  • More generally: be the ‘face’ of Tech into the rest of the business:

    • ensure that stakeholder feature requests or initiative ideas are appropriately triaged and prioritised;

    • Own communicating the product roadmap to the rest of the organisation: make sure stakeholders understand what is on the product roadmap, and why

We are looking for candidates who have

  • Extensive Product Experience in a fast paced tech company

  • Experience working in a highly networked business and/or multi-sided marketplace (logistics, on demand food delivery).

  • Worked on or closely with algorithmic products before (e.g. forecasting and pricing products)

  • Worked on products which have a strong real-world/physical component to them

  • Having been in or have worked closely with stakeholders in Operations

You are someone who

  • Thrives in ambiguous environments where change is the norm

  • Is biased to action, with a ‘done is better than perfect’ mindset

The qualifications and experiences above act as a loose guide to what we’re looking for. We’d still love to hear from you if you have more or less experience, so long as the core skills can be demonstrated.

Relay is offering

  • 25 days annual leave per year (plus bank holidays).

  • Generous equity package.

  • Bupa Global: Business Premier Health Plan - Comprehensive global health insurance with direct access to specialists, dental care, mental health support and more.

  • Contributory pension scheme.

  • Hybrid working

  • Free membership of the gym in our co-working space in London.

  • Cycle-to-work scheme

  • A culture of learning and growth, where you're encouraged to take ownership from day one.

  • Plenty of team socials and events - from pottery painting to life-size Monopoly and escape rooms

The Skills Gap in AI Jobs: What Universities Aren’t Teaching

Artificial intelligence is no longer a future concept. It is already reshaping how businesses operate, how decisions are made, and how entire industries compete. From finance and healthcare to retail, manufacturing, defence, and climate science, AI is embedded in critical systems across the UK economy. Yet despite unprecedented demand for AI talent, employers continue to report severe recruitment challenges. Vacancies remain open for months. Salaries rise year on year. Candidates with impressive academic credentials often fail technical interviews. At the heart of this disconnect lies a growing and uncomfortable truth: Universities are not fully preparing graduates for real-world AI jobs. This article explores the AI skills gap in depth—what is missing from many university programmes, why the gap persists, what employers actually want, and how jobseekers can bridge the divide to build a successful career in artificial intelligence.

AI Jobs for Career Switchers in Their 30s, 40s & 50s (UK Reality Check)

Changing career into artificial intelligence in your 30s, 40s or 50s is no longer unusual in the UK. It is happening quietly every day across fintech, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, government & professional services. But it is also surrounded by hype, fear & misinformation. This article is a realistic, UK-specific guide for career switchers who want the truth about AI jobs: what roles genuinely exist, what skills employers actually hire for, how long retraining really takes & whether age is a barrier (spoiler: not in the way people think). If you are considering a move into AI but want facts rather than Silicon Valley fantasy, this is for you.

How to Write an AI Job Ad That Attracts the Right People

Artificial intelligence is now embedded across almost every sector of the UK economy. From fintech and healthcare to retail, defence and climate tech, organisations are competing for AI talent at an unprecedented pace. Yet despite the volume of AI job adverts online, many employers struggle to attract the right candidates. Roles are flooded with unsuitable applications, while highly capable AI professionals scroll past adverts that feel vague, inflated or disconnected from reality. In most cases, the issue isn’t a shortage of AI talent — it’s the quality of the job advert. Writing an effective AI job ad requires more care than traditional tech hiring. AI professionals are analytical, sceptical of hype and highly selective about where they apply. A poorly written advert doesn’t just fail to convert — it actively damages your credibility. This guide explains how to write an AI job ad that attracts the right people, filters out mismatches and positions your organisation as a serious employer in the AI space.
