The Role We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead and drive product initiatives that support our Platform and Data Engineering teams. In this role, you will act as the bridge between our backend engineering teams and broader business objectives, ensuring that our AI-driven platform and tools meet the highest standards of functionality, usability, and scalability. You will be at the forefront of product innovation, guiding the development of cutting-edge tools and platforms. Working closely with the Product Management team and other cross-functional teams including Design Engineering, Data Science and AI Research, you will deliver products that empower our Engineering teams and end users to succeed in their mission to revolutionise drug discovery. Please note this is a hybrid role and occasional travel is required to our offices in Oxford, UK (approximately once per month), with flexibility to work from home in the UK the remaining time. We are a flexible working organisation and we’re willing to consider other options which would provide similar contact time with the team. You will have the opportunity to: Drive the vision, strategy, and execution of product initiatives specifically tailored to meet the needs of our Platform and Data Engineering teams. Translate high-level business goals into actionable product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with the overall company strategy. Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and end users of the platform to understand their needs, gather requirements, and prioritise platform features. Serve as the voice of the backend and Data Engineering teams, advocating for their needs and ensuring that their feedback is incorporated into the product development process subject to technical constraints. Optimise workflows by identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies in current Engineering workflows, tools and cloud costs, leading initiatives to improve productivity and effectiveness. Implement best practices and frameworks that enhance collaboration, code quality, and overall product delivery. Innovate and improve, keeping updated with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends. Explore new technologies and drive continuous improvement through data-driven decisions and regular feedback. Requirements Essential: BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. 5 years' experience in the agile development of a complex scientific or engineering product in a professional, regulated environment (ideally as a Product Manager in software development). Ability to define, track, and analyse key performance metrics, using data-driven insights to guide product decisions and measure impact. Ability to prioritise, synthesise and structure complex information in a simple manner, and extract the most important insights. Deep understanding of identifying and shaping stakeholder needs into product requirements through workshops, interviews, prototyping, and other techniques with a focus on digital tools. Ability to drive projects to completion, effectively managing timelines, resources, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products on time and within scope. Desirable: Experienced in leading change management initiatives, successfully guiding teams through transitions in tools, processes, and technologies while ensuring smooth adoption and minimal disruption. Experience with AI and machine learning, including familiarity with AI/ML technologies and data management standards, especially in the context of drug discovery or biotech. Experience managing AWS cloud-based ML platform architectures and FAIR data processes. Strong curiosity to understand products, how they work, and how they address requirements.
