About your team: 

You’ll be working centrally within our mission control room, aka Centrica’s group functions. From Finance and Data Science, to our Wellbeing and People teams - this is the engine of our energy system, where our various Centres of Excellence power up each of our brilliant businesses, ensuring they have all the support, technologies, and capabilities they need to get our customers to Net Zero by 2050.

We have an exciting new opportunity for aSenior Financial Crime Managerto join our Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Ethics & Compliance, and Secretariat Function (LRECS). LRECS focusses on providing a diverse and inclusive environment with a strong emphasis on wellbeing and delivering opportunities for growth and personal development.

Reporting to our Group Head of Ethics, you will have overall accountability for the management and operation of the Group Financial Crime second line activities including all activities relating to meeting our obligations under the various regulatory jurisdictions.

Location:We work flexibly in line with our Flexible First working arrangements believing that empowered colleagues are happier and more productive. The successful candidate will, however, need to be comfortable commuting to our Windsor office on a once-weekly basis and on occasion to our London office.

What will you do?

Lead on protecting Centrica from risks arising from money laundering & terrorist financing, sanctions, bribery & corruption, fraud and tax evasion, both in the UK-facing and foreign portions of the business. Propose, implement and maintain group-wide processes and policies and provide strategic-level guidance and technical advice on financial crime issues across the business, to different audiences as required. Own and manage the Group Financial Crime framework, including the financial crime minimum standard and all supporting guidance and documents. Chair the Financial Crime Forum to maintain oversight of material and non-material risks. Drive the training and awareness of financial crime through horizon scanning, e-learning, advisory and thought-leadership. As part of this, identify any anticipated future legal or regulatory changes impacting financial crime and ensure timely communication to those affected. Conduct longer-term strategic planning regarding financial crime and implications for Centrica activities and compliance. Own change initiatives within financial crime team, as needed. As required, brief on financial crime to Board and Executive Committee level.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a highly skilled compliance and risk management specialist ideally with extensive experience in the energy and services industry. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in financial crime systems, third-party risk management, and compliance program delivery.

You will have a proven track record in a second line compliance role with experience of all areas of financial crime, including interpretation of laws and regulation and the application of this into practical guidance. You must have an advanced working knowledge of financial crime laws and regulations, including AML, sanctions, bribery, and fraud.

Qualifications and Skills:

Degree or equivalent professional experience; ICA Diploma or ACAMS preferred. Effective communication and relationship-building. Strategic and creative thinking. Strong organisational and project management abilities. Ability to manage diverse stakeholders and secure senior-level buy-in.
