The role


We’re looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join Rightmove’s growing Data & Analytics team and lead the development of cutting-edge machine learning and AI solutions to enable innovative impact at scale, helping Rightmove deliver exceptional experiences and value to consumers, our partners and all our stakeholders across the UK property market.


In this role, you’ll be a technical leader in a cross-functional team, identifying business opportunities and designing scalable ML models that power smarter experiences for consumers and partners. You’ll drive experimentation and model development, from architecture through deployment, working closely with colleagues across product, design, engineering, and data. We’re looking for someone with deep technical expertise and a passion for applied innovation, someone eager to explore emerging techniques in AI and bring them to production in impactful ways. You’ll also play a key role in shaping Rightmove’s AI strategy, evaluating new technologies, and mentoring others across squads.

Our Data & Analytics team has grown significantly over the last 18 months, with strong ongoing investment in infrastructure, tooling, and talent. This is a unique opportunity to own high-impact projects, help define our AI roadmap, and influence the future of how the UK engages with property.

What you'll be doing

Being hands on in the design, prototyping, developing, evaluating, testing, and optimisation of machine learning and generative AI and machine learning powered solutions to solve interesting and complex business problems


Working closely alongside Machine Learning Engineers to optimise, scale, deploy, integrate and monitor ML and GenAI powered solutions on our cloud based data & AI tech stack
Collaborating with product managers, designers, software developers, product analysts and data engineers on the development of AI powered consumer and partner facing features
Overseeing the activities of data scientists when needed, ensuring proper definition of their tasks, reviewing code, improve ways of working along with providing longer term technical mentorship and guidance
Facilitating optimal scaling and adoption of machine learning and generative AI, via effective AI systems design and development of reusable components for model training and evaluation.
Acting as a key technical leader in data science & AI and point of contact for specific Rightmove business domains
Influencing strategic decisions around Rightmove’s AI offering, collaborating with senior management and key stakeholders in identifying and prioritising AI opportunities that drive value for Rightmove’s consumers, partners and people
Exploring and promoting use of machine learning and generative AI across Rightmove’s portfolio of applications and products
Providing expertise on statistical and mathematical concepts for the broader Data & Analytics Team

We're looking for someone who has

Proven experience delivering ML and generative AI solutions, especially in search, recommendations, and LLMs.


Skilled in end-to-end ML lifecycle: problem framing, model development, deployment, and optimisation.
Strong ability to translate ambiguous business problems into high-impact ML solutions.
Experienced technical leader – mentors others, shares knowledge, and promotes best practices.
Excellent communicator, able to work cross-functionally and tailor messages to different audiences.
Hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, ML frameworks (e.g. XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch), and cloud tools (GCP, BigQuery, Vertex AI).
Familiar with generative AI tools and frameworks (e.g. OpenAI, HuggingFace, LangChain).
Deeply curious, commercially minded, and impact-driven with strong critical thinking skills.
Comfortable in fast-paced environments with a proactive, self-starter mindset.
Holds a relevant STEM degree (BSc, MSc, or PhD) and 6+ years of applied data science experience.
