Join us at Gallagher Re as aSenior Data Scientistand help lead our Data Science team within our newly established Data Science & AI Centre of Excellence. You will develop data-driven solutions using Python and Azure Machine Learning to address business challenges in reinsurance and risk, working alongside actuaries, brokers, and product managers.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Developing and implementing machine learning models with Python and Azure ML.
  2. Migrating and operationalising models for flood, quake, climate, and hurricane predictions.
  3. Supporting development of our Cyber Technographic Insight Discovery Engine (TIDE).
  4. Utilising classical machine learning techniques to build explainable models.
  5. Contributing to our AI strategy and enhancing internal capabilities.
  6. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation.
  7. Writing well-documented, tested, and readable code.
  8. Conducting data analysis, cleaning, and visualisation.
  9. Communicating findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications include:

  • Proven track record in senior data science roles.
  • Strong Python skills and experience with Azure Machine Learning.
  • Understanding of classical machine learning and deep learning.
  • Commercial focus with an interest in reinsurance and risk.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Azure; experience with AWS and GCP is a plus.
  • SQL knowledge is preferred.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks and image analysis.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, particularly pricing and risk selection.

Location and Working Arrangements:Based in our London City office with hybrid working (in-office two days/week).
