About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate data scientist to work in the Insights team. You will be working alongside Data Analysts and Data Engineers to deliver insights to a variety of stakeholders, from Product to Marketing. You will lead experimentation efforts as well as deep dives, user’s behavior modeling, KPIs forecasting and insights democratization at Goodnotes.

This is the role for you, if you’re excited to work on the things listed below:

  • Analyze user behavior to find and explain novel drivers of key outcomes, such as activation, engagement, upgrades, and churn.
  • Drive proactive analysis/research into high-potential green fields.
  • Ensure all teams have insight to data and can answer their own first-order questions.
  • Develop data literacy programs and provide easy-to-use tools with clear documentation, examples, and tutorials.
  • Improve our experimentation practices by leading change on tooling, infrastructure and design; expanding its use cases, owning documentation and advocating usage among technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Perform basic ETL tasks to model new dimensions and facts in our data lakehouse.

The skills you will need to be successful in the above:

  • 6+ years of experience in data science and analytics space
  • Hands-on experience in defining and analyzing large, complex datasets, finding actionable business solutions to loosely defined revenue and operations problems.
  • Proven stakeholder management expertise. Gifted at explaining your findings clearly to a non-technical audience and excited by helping your team and stakeholders develop KPIs and self-serve dashboards.
  • Technically proficient with relevant analytics tools (dbt, modern BI tools) and languages (SQL, Python or R)
  • Deep expertise in designing and analyzing rigorous experiments of varying degrees of complexity. This includes mastery of A/B test design, as well as understanding of peeking techniques and multi-armed bandit.
  • Combine your strong business acumen with statistical expertise (e.g. confidence intervals, regression modeling, significance testing), including demonstrated experience with common machine learning techniques for deep data mining and exploration (e.g. predictive modeling, time series modeling, classification, and clustering techniques).
  • Deep care about the details and high-quality instrumentation that lead to high-quality, impactful insights.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

The interview process:

  • An introductory call with someone from our talent acquisition team. They want to hear more about your background, what you are looking for, and why you’d like to join Goodnotes
  • Take-home Assignment.
  • Technical interview: A technical call with 2-3 analysts. We will go through your take-home submission and a few other questions you will have the chance to ask any questions you may have.
  • Hiring Manager interview: A call with your hiring manager. This is the person who will be managing you day to day, working on your growth and development with you as well as support you throughout your career at Goodnotes.
  • Panel interview – A meet the team call with 2 or 3 GoodPeople you’d be working closely with at Goodnotes

What’s in it for you:

  • Budget for things like noise-cancelling headphones, setting up your home office, personal development, professional training, and health & wellness
  • Sponsored visits to our Hong Kong or London office every 2 years
  • Company-wide annual offsite (we met in Portugal in 2023 and Bali in 2024)
  • Flexible working hours and location
  • Medical insurance for you and your dependents

Note: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background checks, including verification of employment, education, and criminal records.
