The role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our team. Reporting to the Data Delivery Lead, you will analyze and interpret data from various sources to support our clients' decision-making processes.

The Data team at Prevail underpins all our mission-focused teams. No two days are the same, and we tackle complex, real-world problems. Our ideal candidate will have exceptional analytical skills, capable of navigating complex datasets to turn ambiguous requests into meaningful insights.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Analyzing and evaluating intelligence data to identify patterns, trends, and relationships that contribute to actionable intelligence.
  2. Utilizing advanced analytical techniques and tools to assess the reliability, accuracy, and relevance of intelligence information.
  3. Developing and maintaining databases, data models, and analytical frameworks for efficient data analysis and retrieval.
  4. Collaborating with intelligence and security professionals to understand requirements and priorities.
  5. Preparing and delivering reports, briefings, and presentations to communicate findings effectively.
  6. Monitoring emerging threats, geopolitical developments, and supporting intelligence assessments and forecasting.
  7. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to advocate for high-quality data solutions.
  8. Mentoring junior team members.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, data mining, and statistical techniques.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets accurately.
  • Proficiency in Python or R (5+ years’ experience).
  • Knowledge of statistical models such as linear and logistic regression, t-tests, ANOVA.
  • Experience collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from diverse sources.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical reasoning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to attain UK Security Clearance (residency in the UK for 5+ years).

Desirable skills:

  • Experience in report writing, academic publishing, or data storytelling.
  • Familiarity with AWS, SQL, and Tableau.
  • Background in intelligence or social sciences.
  • Knowledge of experimental design.
  • Experience with big data and awareness of biases.
  • Proficiency in documenting methodologies.
  • Familiarity with version control tools like GitHub.
  • Experience building machine learning pipelines and understanding engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques such as Random Forest and LGBM.
