Our Risk and Compliance function has a critical role to play in supporting, challenging and advising across all areas of the business through establishing policy, monitoring profiles, and identifying and managing forward-looking risk and compliance. We focus on creating an environment that encourages our people to speak up and do the right thing, as well as protecting our customers, the organisation and the integrity of the financial markets in which we operate. Already an industry-leader in many respects, we want to continue setting standards and evolving to respond to strategic changes.

This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will:

*Support growth in the business, by contributing towards a range of analytical projects that enhance existing product features and manages the exposure of our existing customers.
*Provide analysis to monitor credit portfolios against agreed performance indicators, identify emerging trends and future risks.
*Examine new data sources, assess the benefit to current strategies and share these findings with stakeholders.
*Support the strategic direction of the team in proactively improving our processes / creating efficiency saves and delivering on analytical tasks.
*Formulate and clearly communicate conclusions and proposals by considering the risk, reward and customer impact, collaborating with teams to make decisions.
*Build strong interpersonal relationships and engage with the wider organisation to provide insight and support for changes required to improve customer outcomes.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

*Previous experience in a relevant analytical / data science role, within a Retail Credit Risk or analytics department (or equivalent in other industries).
*Excellent attention to detail and a track record of analytical capabilities using relevant software packages (i.e. SAS/SQL/VBA/Python) to analyse large amounts of data, draw conclusions and drive actions.
*An understanding of consumer lending products, profitability and credit risk is desirable.
*Technical knowledge of credit reference agencies and bureau data fields / reporting is desirable.
*Knowledge of FCA regulations and experience of their application in a consumer lending environment is desirable.
*Experience of planning your own tasks and activities in line with business priorities, using a variety of analysis and problem solving techniques.
*Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered.
*You enjoy working collaboratively and are a clear communicator.
*You are motivated by making a positive contribution to how we support our customers and deliver for HSBC.

This role can be based in Birmingham, Leeds or Sheffield (Hybrid).

Where to Advertise AI Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising AI jobs in the UK requires a different approach to most technical hiring. The candidate pool is small, highly informed and in demand across multiple sectors simultaneously. General job boards reach a broad audience but lack the specificity that AI professionals expect — and the filtering mechanisms they rely on. Specialist platforms, direct outreach and academic channels each serve a different part of the market. This guide, published by ArtificialIntelligenceJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise AI roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about time-to-hire across different role types.

New AI Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Reshaping AI Careers

The artificial intelligence job market in the UK is evolving at an extraordinary pace. With record-breaking investment, government backing, and a surge in enterprise adoption, the landscape of AI employers is shifting rapidly. For candidates exploring opportunities on ArtificialIntelligenceJobs.co.uk, understanding who is hiring next is just as important as understanding what skills are in demand. In this article, we explore the new and emerging AI employers to watch in 2026, focusing on organisations that have recently secured funding, won major contracts, or expanded their UK footprint. From cutting-edge startups to global giants doubling down on Britain, these companies represent the next wave of AI career opportunities.

How Many AI Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an AI Job?

If you are job hunting in AI right now it can feel like you are drowning in tools. Every week there is a new framework, a new “must-learn” platform or a new productivity app that everyone on LinkedIn seems to be using. The result is predictable: job seekers panic-learn a long list of tools without actually getting better at delivering outcomes. Here is the truth most hiring managers will quietly agree with. They do not hire you because you know 27 tools. They hire you because you can solve a problem, communicate trade-offs, ship something reliable and improve it with feedback. Tools matter, but only in service of outcomes. So how many AI tools do you actually need to know? For most AI job seekers: fewer than you think. You need a tight core toolkit plus a role-specific layer. Everything else is optional. This guide breaks it down clearly, gives you a simple framework to choose what to learn and shows you how to present your toolset on your CV, portfolio and interviews.
