Base: paeDIATRIC anaesTHESIA

Applications are invited for the above posts, which offer advanced sub-specialist training in the Paediatric Anaesthesia. The posts will be based at the Regional Specialty Centre, at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow – a leading Paediatric training centre in the UK providing many of Scotland’s national services: Cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology; Renal transplantation; Cleft palate surgery; Chest wall surgery; Complex paediatric airway surgery (including laryngo-tracheal reconstruction and laser surgery); craniofacial and neurosurgery. The hospital has a large complex neonatal workload. Fellows can expect regular exposure to neonatal anaesthesia, with many surgical procedures carried out in NICU itself

These are exciting and challenging clinical posts for those wishing to have a major interest in paediatric anaesthesia in the future.

Research and audit are actively encouraged.

Sub-interests in wellbeing, eco anaesthesia and simulation education are being offered, with dedicated time to develop in these fields.

Wellbeing: the fellow will be provided the opportunity to an opportunity to develop and contribute to wellbeing projects within Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board. They will receive training in Critical Incident Stress Management and work within the established at RHC or GGC, as well as be involved in implementing and attending rounds at RHC.

ECO: fellows would be linked into existing projects and working parties including the Eco Committee at RHC and the , as well as being supported to lead and complete new project ideas.

SIM: to develop and deliver the simulation training within the anaesthetic and theatre groups. Attendance of a simulation instructor course will be facilitated.

Applicants must hold a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training or equivalent in Anaesthesia on starting the post

To practice medicine in the you need to hold both GMC registration and a licence to practice. This post is not suitable for MTI
