Job Summary

The Huawei Consumer Cloud service (CBG Cloud) team is seeking highly skilled and motivated Research Scientists/Engineers with a strong Computer Vision background to join our leading AI research and development team. This role is central to advancing capabilities in advanced video and image understanding. The successful candidate will conduct pioneering research and develop novel methodologies to identify, model, and comprehend complex spatial and temporal relationships among multiple objects and scene elements within dynamic video content. This position offers an opportunity to drive cutting-edge advancements in computer vision, translate research into impactful solutions, and contribute to technologies that redefine how we interpret and interact with visual information at scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work to solve challenges and conduct cutting-edge applied research related to our businesses (Video, Music, Reading, Browser, Game).
  • Design, implement, and evaluate novel computer vision algorithms and models, including techniques for image and video analysis such as object recognition, segmentation, tracking, and understanding dynamic scenes.
  • Advance fundamental computer vision capabilities, including feature extraction, representation learning, and modeling of visual data to extract meaningful insights; move beyond object recognition to event understanding, activity prediction, and causality.
  • Develop and refine state-of-the-art computer vision and machine learning algorithms that are robust, efficient, and scalable for large-scale visual data.
  • Design and execute rigorous empirical evaluations of new CV models and techniques, analyze results, identify failure modes, and drive iterative improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Contribute to research publications, presentations, and intellectual property development as appropriate.
Person Specification
  • Required: PhD degree in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Computer Science and Engineering or related subjects.
  • A strong track record of impactful research in computer vision, specifically with expertise in video understanding, temporal modeling, action recognition, multi-object tracking, or spatio-temporal reasoning; demonstrated by publications in top-tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, ICCV).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly. A collaborative mindset, capable of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams and contributing positively to team dynamics.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a rigorous, detail-oriented approach to research and experimentation.
