We are looking for two Research Assistants/Research Associates to join our dynamic team of multi-disciplinary professionals. As part of the iCARE team the post-holders will directly contribute to the delivery of a portfolio of projects within the NIHR Imperial BRC’s Digital Health theme spanning translational clinical analytics, and Artificial Intelligence, towards the development of new treatments, diagnostics and technologies, that benefit patients and communities locally and internationally. The iCARE team also run the Digital Collaboration Space initiative within Paddington Life Sciences; the Paddington Life Science Partners have a shared commitment to generating healthcare innovation, alongside health, economic and social value. By working with experts across clinical, data science, data management, research, information governance, public involvement, and private-sector partners, the team works to address priorities responding to the needs and preferences of our patients, staff and local community towards social purpose and care equity during the ongoing digital transformation of the NHS.


The appointments will support the development, delivery and evaluation of interventions in the electronic healthcare record, the post holder will be required to utilise a large range of varied and cutting-edge data science methodologies and be able to explain methodology and outputs to a lay audience as well as produce scientific journal articles to the highest standards for peer review and publication.


The candidate will have a background in data science and/or statistics with the ability to apply analytic techniques to real world problems. Essential for the role will be the ability to collaborate with a wide cross section of scientists, clinicians, and allied healthcare professionals; excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision. The candidate will support local, regional and national healthcare research programmes and be expected to engage and work with national bodies and organisations including HDR UK, NHS England, the Health Foundation, and the NIHR Health Informatics Collaborative.


The role will involve working with some of the largest and most granular healthcare datasets in Europe. Experience of healthcare data, healthcare data quality issues, health data standards, taxonomies and ontologies are vital to ensure that the value of these data can be realised and used to deliver improvement and patient and public benefit.
