Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated registered nurse to join the ASCR Recruitment, Retention, Education and Wellbeing Team (RREWT). Applicants will need to have a passion to support our new and existing nursing teams across our wards to grow, develop their skills and achieve their competencies.

Main duties of the job

Support newly qualified registered practitioners and new staff during their period of preceptorship / rotation programme Support and develop the preceptors using a facilitation / coaching approach Provide direct supervision and training for qualified registered practitioners and new staff Support development of the learning environment and competency frameworks benchmarked against national standards of care Support the clinical teams to develop skills matrices and record staff development using their matrix Support the development of clinical practice guidelines & policies
Assist the workforce in achieving quality standards Develop and implement new initiatives and ways of working Contribute to the delivery, management and review of all existing accredited and internal education programmes

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a member of the ASCR Education Team, the Clinical Practice Facilitator will promote the delivery of high quality patient care and safety by the provision of direct supervision, training and preceptorship support for all healthcare practitioners.

This will include providing support for registered nurses/ practitioners who are undertaking preceptorship and/or rotation programmes. The Clinical Practice Facilitator will act as a point of escalation for preceptors who require support in managing individuals who are struggling to 
demonstrate the required standards of practice in accordance with the Trust’s capability procedures. 

The Clinical Practice Facilitator will support development of the learning environment and competency frameworks benchmarked against national standards of care.

Education/Training/Qualifications

Essential criteria

Registered Nurse University validated teaching & assessing qualification/ Supporting Students in Practice (SSIP) course Nursing Degree

Desirable criteria

University validated post registration specialist qualification relevant to area of practice or equivalent.

Work experience

Essential criteria

Evidence of supporting learners in the relevant practice setting, including the management of failing students / performance management Ability to lead a team Ability to work independently and using your own initiative, including project management

Desirable criteria

Minimum of 5 years post registration experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Essential criteria

Advanced knowledge of current evidenced practice Knowledge of Health and Safety/Risk Management within the clinical setting Expertise in relevant area of practice and be able to maintain own clinical practice Excellent facilitation / teaching / assessing skills Ability to organise own work schedules, meet targets and devise objectives. Ability to manage projects and implement change Ability to facilitate meetings IT skills

Desirable criteria

Knowledge of the Trust’s aims & objectives, policies, principles and standards in respect of both patient care and personnel management.

The successful applicant(s) will normally commence at the minimum of the scale unless they have previous NHS service at the same band. Progression through the scale is by annual increments.
