Contract | Inside IR35 | £550–£600/day | Hybrid / Secure Site | SC Cleared | UK Nationals Only

Contract Length: Initial 3-month engagement (rolling), aligned to a 6–9 month roadmap

We’re partnering with a cutting-edge AI company delivering a flagship MOD-sponsored project. They're seeking a strategic, delivery-focused Project Manager to lead the rollout of an AI-driven capability within Defence ensuring it’s ethically sound, user-centric, and impactful.

This is an opportunity to drive real innovation at the intersection of data, AI, and national security, shaping how AI is deployed in complex, secure, and highly operational public sector contexts.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading the end-to-end delivery of an AI-based Defence capability, from discovery to deployment

  • Defining and communicating a clear solution vision, roadmap, and delivery strategy

  • Engaging with internal stakeholders (engineers, data scientists, policy leads) and external partners (vendors, MOD)

  • Managing backlogs, sprint cycles, and stand-ups in an agile delivery environment

  • Embedding ethical, legal, and policy requirements into design and deployment workflows

  • Tracking and communicating delivery progress, risks, and milestones to senior leadership

  • Ensuring full compliance with MOD, data protection, and AI transparency standards

    What You’ll Bring:

  • Strong track record in project or product management, ideally in regulated or public sector environments

  • Understanding of AI and machine learning concepts (e.g., model bias, explainability, data governance)

  • Confident communicator with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical teams

  • Hands-on experience with agile tools and methods: stand-ups, sprints, user stories, retrospectives

  • (Bonus) Experience working on AI or data science programmes

  • (Bonus) Familiarity with ethical AI frameworks, UK data legislation (GDPR, AI governance), or public sector standards

  • (Bonus) Experience in Defence, central government, or other sensitive domains

    Why This Project?

This is more than Gantt charts and status reports. You’ll be shaping how AI is applied in Defence settings, with a real impact on operational decision-making, data ethics, and long-term innovation in national security.
