The Client:

OXBO are delighted to be partnering with an international, industry leading Solar & BESS IPP to build out their brand new Construction team. Due to a recent acquisition by one of the biggest investors in Solar & BESS developments, they are growing their in-house project delivery team and looking for a Project Engineer.


In the role you will be responsible for reviewing technical contract documentation, and providing engineering support to project management, feasibility studies and technical due dilligence.


What you will do:

  • Ensure that the project technical solution fulfils EPC and EBOP/ICP contract and other project requirements.
  • Management of PV specialist consultants and advisors including determination of scopes of work and interpretation of advice received.
  • Liaison, collaboration, and provision of technical and strategic advice to the various multi-disciplinary teams working on solar and BESS projects.
  • Ensure effective communication between partners and other colleagues (e.g. in finance, engineering, H&S, Project Management) to support the objective that the projects are designed and optimised.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documentation, for front-end engineering (e.g. geotechnical investigations, structural studies, EYA, preliminary layout) and ensure that they are prepared on time, and are of the highest possible standard.
  • Assist in contractual negotiation with EPC regarding technical areas such as engineering, equipment specifications, performance/testing schedules.
  • Technical engagement with external consultants, contractors, independent engineers, lenders engineers, Government agencies, utility and grid companies as required.
  • Inspect project sites and attend seminars and meetings as required.
  • Support evaluation of new products, concepts, and technologies from vendors.


Your profile:

  • A minimum bachelor’s degree qualification in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in large scale PV solar farm and BESS projects.
  • Experience in AutoCAD and PVSyst
  • Knowledge of PV development and construction
  • Knowledge and understanding of PV technology, grid connections, solar energy yield assessments, shading, ground conditions interpretation and foundation, MV/HV grid connection procedures, PV plant installation procedures.
  • Experience of solar project procurement, construction and commissioning.
  • Experience and knowledge of relevant UK&Irish design codes, regulations and policy.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in Ireland and UK.
  • Proficiency in translating engineering issues into CAPEX and OPEX assumptions.
