To support this mission, we are developing compact, high-performance, embedded systems that enable edge computing and connectivity. Working closely with other teams across Medtronic, we are creating a connected ecosystem and leveraging the state of the art in computer vision to provide the most comprehensive view of surgery. If you’re interested in using cutting-edge technology to improve the standard of care in surgery on a global scale, this could be the place for you.

As a TestOps Engineer within the Surgical R&D Digital Services Centre of Excellence, you will work alongside developers and test engineers to ensure we have the automation tools and infrastructure to deliver consistent quality products to our customers. We are looking for an experienced engineer who is well-versed in automation, continuous delivery, and agile testing and finds value in creating tools to drive quality engineering excellence across our product delivery teams for the Digital Technologies portfolio.

A Day in the Life

We recognise that quality must happen at every stage of the product development process and live and breathe a whole-team approach to testing. We look to our testers to champion this ethos and help strengthen our quality culture. We care about both the quality of what we’re making and the quality of life of our team.

Here's what you'll do (not all of it, just the important stuff!):

●Ensure developers and test engineers have the tools and infrastructure to develop and implement automated tests efficiently during feature development.

●Collaborate with developers and test engineers to highlight gaps in test coverage and develop guidelines that encourage better testing, increase test coverage in depth and breadth, and improve the product engineering experience.

●Research and implement new technologies and techniques to help support various parts of the testing process, including both functional and non-functional.

●Identify, design, and deliver bespoke tooling to drive efficiency and engineering productivity.

●Ensure the tooling and infrastructure have monitoring built-in so that the team can measure the results against our quality goals and highlight risks and impediments.

●Contribute to continuous improvement and proactively support knowledge sharing across the entire team.

●Clearly communicate and showcase new tooling features and changes.

●Keep track of tasks being worked on and make them visible to people outside their team.

●Offers helpful suggestions when planning and estimating work packages.

●Able to deliver and maintain test infrastructure in line with our product development sprints.

Must Have

●5+ years of experience working as an SDET, SET, SRE, TestOps, Software Engineer in Test, or Automation Tester

●5+ years of experience working in an agile team

●Excellent knowledge and applied expertise in test and quality practices.

●Experience in test practices for native mobile and/or full-stack web applications

●Expert knowledge of programming and automation tooling

●Experience with TestOps tools for Continuous Integration (CI/CD) testing.

●Writes clean, standards-compliant, scalable, reusable, quality code.

●Have built automation frameworks and tooling from scratch

●Strong working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments (command line)

Nice to Have

●Have coached and mentored team members (testers and developers)

●Experience with ATDD or BDD

●Knowledge and application of the context-driven testing and agile testing approach

●Knowledge of medical device software standards: IEC 62304 and ISO 13485 QMS
