PrincipalRobotics Software Engineer

Your responsibilities willinclude driving the technical direction and vision for navigationplanning exploration and control of robotic systems designed tooperate in complex and challenging environments. To be successfulyouwill have extensive experience building deploying and testingproductionlevel autonomy solutions encompassing all aspects ofrobotics systems development including integration and extensivefield trials.

As part of a collaborative team youwill lead and mentor through the entire software development lifecycle: design implementation testing deployment and maintenance.You willchampion building quality solutions through peer reviewscontinuous improvement and leveraging our continuous integrationpipelines. Providing your deep robotics and software engineeringexpertise to a crossfunctional team collaborating with experts inRobotics Perception and Machine Learning. This collaboration iscrucial for delivering innovative robust highquality and valuableproducts.

Youll use yourunderstanding ofcuttingedge research and the ability to work closely withresearchers to translate novel ideas into tangible products.Ultimately your expertise and leadership will be pivotal inadvancing clean energy technologies and the broader field ofmaritimerobotics.


Objectives& Responsibilities:

Vaarstis an exciting and dynamic environment meaning these are likely tochange as we grow upon joining your objectives and responsibilitieswill include:

  • Architectand develop advanced autonomous robotic applications with a keyfocus on the autonomous inspection of offshore windfarms.
  • Define the technical direction andvision for navigation planning exploration and control of roboticsystems in complex maritimeenvironments.
  • Oversee all phases of productdevelopment from initial concept and design through implementationtesting and deployment.
  • Mentor a team ofengineers fostering a collaborative innovative and growthorientedenvironment.
  • Champion quality through rigorouscode reviews unit testing and continuous integrationpractices.
  • Work with crossfunctional teamsincluding experts in Robotics Perception and Machine Learning todeliver robust and highqualityproducts.
  • Writeand maintain highquality efficient and scalable code using modern Cand Python.
  • Lead integration efforts andparticipate in extensive field trials to ensure reliability andperformance.
  • Collaborate with product teams todefine project requirements and deliverables ensuring alignmentwith business goals.
  • Drive initiatives toenhance development processes practices and tools staying at theforefront of industrytrends.


Youshould apply if you have.

  • Expertise in softwaredevelopment focusing on Robotics and ModernC.
  • Proven track record of delivering successfulrobotic products and solutions in a professional setting withsignificant industry experience.
  • Experienceparticipating in and leading field trials of robotic systems(Marine field trials would be anadvantage)
  • Proven track record of mentoringjunior team members and leading technicaldevelopment

TechnicalSkills:

  • Expertise indeveloping productionlevel modern C and Pythonsoftware.
  • Advanced knowledge of roboticsprinciples and techniques including vehicle dynamics controlalgorithms sensor fusion and stateestimation.
  • Experience solving roboticsproblems such as:
    • Positioning and navigation ofrobotics vehicles within uncertainenvironment
    • Mapping and path planning throughunstructured terrains
    • Vehicle dynamics andcontrol of underactuated vehicles using PID LQR MPCetc.
    • Interfacing with sensors and actuatorsincluding writingdrivers.
  • Proficiencyin ROS and Linux/Ubuntu environments with experience in integrationand deployment of robotics systems.
  • Familiaritywith advanced robotics tools and libraries such as OpenCV PCL EigenNumpy andDocker.
