Location City Derry/Londonderry Overview of Role We are looking for an experienced Principal Machine Learning Scientist to join our Data Science team on a permanent basis, based FinTrU's offices in Derry/Londonderry. Job Details You should apply if you have: Minimum of 10 years in Data science/AI roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL. Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras) and libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, Theano), demonstrating technical capability to build, optimise, and deploy AI models. Strong aptitude for analysing complex data sets and derive actionable insights using advanced ML/AI techniques. This includes proficiency in developing, training, and optimising models to uncover patterns, predict outcomes, and drive strategic decisions. Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teams while fostering a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to work on: You will Lead and mentor the Data Science team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by encouraging rapid experimentation and the development of proof of concepts (POCs) to explore new ideas and validate emerging technologies with a fail-fast mentality. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, prioritise and implement data science strategies and roadmap that align with business objectives. Oversee the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models and algorithms. Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering teams plus other departments to identify data-driven opportunities and solutions.
