The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced consultant to join an established and successful team of consultants and analysts covering international crude and refined products markets. This is a senior hire with the potential to develop to a leadership role within the group. You will work with a small but growing team that provides regular research-based analysis and forecasts of international crude, refined products and LPG markets. The team is responsible for the preparation and delivery of monthly products that provide clients with a forward view of supply/demand, trade and price in the short term. The team also prepares long term analysis of these markets and candidates must be able to demonstrate good understanding of the issues and challenges associated with the energy transition. The role involves helping form the direction and focus of the group’s work, preparing the appropriate products and material, developing the narrative underpinning the forecasts and communicating the results to clients and others both inside and outside Argus. The candidate also will be expected to support Argus Consulting ad hoc projects as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help drive the direction and focus of the team
  • Identify new areas of analysis and associated business opportunities
  • Help develop data sets and models to support the forecasting of supply, demand, capacity, imports and exports, price, production costs and margin for crude and refined products
  • Contribute text and other material to the regular reports and presentations
  • Be involved in the development and commercialisation of the existing products
  • Pursue the development and commercialisation of new products

What we’re looking for in you?

  • Experience in and knowledge of the oil industry and markets and in particular the downstream
  • A proven track record in an analytical role, in another consultancy or industry player
  • Strong leadership potential
  • An entrepreneurial mindset
  • Intellectually curious and able to demonstrate structured problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong IT skills including advanced Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks to deadline and to meet targets
  • Flexible in approach, highly motivated and eager to contribute to the growth of the team.
