Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 we embarked on our new10-year strategyfor ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

Location: Based in London, minimum one day per week in the office with the option to work from home in line with Crisis’ Hybrid Working Policy.

Contract: 12-month fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity

About the role

This is your opportunity to join an ambitious and high-performing Policy and Campaigns team at a critical time to influence the policy direction on homelessness from the new Westminster Government. As the Policy Manager, you will lead on the design and delivery of an ambitious policy programme focused on the solutions to end homelessness, and work with your colleagues in campaigns to shape our influencing strategies, contributing your knowledge of Whitehall and how to influence Government, as well as people with lived experience of homelessness to shape the overall direction. You will also collaborate with the media and research teams to deliver effective influencing.

You will manage a high performing team to deliver proactive programmes of policy work that are underpinned by evidence-based solutions and informed by political intelligence and lived experience of homelessness. You will work with stakeholders to expand Crisis’ network and position Crisis as the leading expert on policies related to homelessness with decision makers and influencers. You will also collaborate strategically with the Campaigns Manager to drive forward our policy campaigns, and to advise and shape our campaign narratives and influencing agenda.

You will oversee a range of proactive policy projects to achieve policy change in the areas of housing, renting, welfare, migration, and legislation, and lead your team to work with our frontline services to ensure policy in grounded in the experiences of people facing homelessness.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable experience of designing and delivering proactive policy projects and shaping influencing strategies that achieve change. You will have a track record of delivering robust policy solutions that are informed by the external political environment and reflect the needs of people experiencing homelessness. You will have experience of working successfully to influence MPs, Ministers and senior civil servants.
