The Role

As a Planning Data Scientist you will play a key role in driving data‑driven decision making and supporting strategic planning through advanced analytics and machine learning. You’ll combine strong technical skills with a deep understanding of statistical methods and business insight to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets.


What you’ll be doing

  • Using programming languages such as python for analysis and model building
  • Using statistical concepts such as hypothesis testing, regression analysis and probability distributions to interpret data
  • Cleaning, transforming and preparing data from different sources using SQL and other manipulation tools
  • Implementing machine learning algorithms to build predictive models
  • Extracting meaningful information from large datasets to inform decision making
  • Creating meaningful outputs using visualisation tools to aid decision making
  • Supporting expansion of scope planning for new areas, solving complex problems using data science solutions
  • Comfortable and / or deliverable track record with using machine learning and forecasting
  • Adopting appropriate judgement using external planning methodologies to deliver excellent performance through in line with DLG values and strategy.

What you’ll need

  • A strong background in statistics and data classification with demonstratable experience
  • Data Analysis interpretation and deployment knowledge and experience
  • A strong understanding of insurance principles and practice
  • Operational performance and understanding
  • Relationship / Stakeholder Management experience - both internally to DLG and dealing with third‑party stakeholders

Ways of working :


Our hybrid model offers a best of both worlds approach. When you’ll be in the office depends on your role and team but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office.
