Overview

We are seeking a Petroleum Data Scientist to join the Production Technology Division.

The Production Technology Division of EXPEC Advanced Research Center is responsible for developing novel technologies to achieve Saudi Aramco key upstream objectives by increase reservoirs recovery and operational efficiency in areas related to Production Engineering, including productivity enhancement by developing chemicals, and improving well performance by developing tools.

Your primary role is to contribute in leading edge technology development by developing digital solutions, machine learning models, and data visualization tools under Artificial Lift Research & Development focus areas.

Key Responsibilities

As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Lead the design and development of Machine Learning models for oil production applications, such as: forecasting and optimization.
  • Direct the deployment of digital oilfield solutions and integration initiatives.
  • Architect data pipelines, analytics dashboards, and visualization tools.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to identify and prioritize optimization opportunities.
  • Continuously monitor systems health and lead efforts to enhance performance.
  • Remain up to date on latest advancements in oil & gas digitalization.
  • Install and trial test new digital technologies developed in-house or through third-party service providers.
  • Implement full-scale deployment of high-impact technologies.


Minimum Requirements

  • As a successful candidate you will hold Bachelor Degree in Petroleum, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. An advanced degree in Data Science or related discipline is a plus.
  • You should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, data science, and machine learning.
  • Expertise in building production forecasting models and optimization algorithms is essential.
  • Knowledge of using programming tools, such as: Python, SQL, cloud computing, app deployment, and petroleum engineering domain knowledge is also required
  • You should be able to demonstrate strong communication, presentation, and storytelling abilities to translate data into insights.
  • You should also possess leadership skills to drive development and adoption of new digital solutions in petroleum production.
  • Knowledge in oil & gas industry and academia to generate practical solutions in upstream oil and gas production is preferred.
