Hurdle (a Chronomics brand) is building the infrastructure that simplifies and accelerates access to biology for companies and consumers. Our API first, modular platform combines world class expertise in biology, healthcare, technology and AI to make biological data accessible to as many people as possible to improve future health outcomes. We work with leading healthcare partners to deliver healthcare that has a real world impact on people's lives such as being able to measure their true biological age or take a blood test to monitor their heart health.


We are a remote-first company with employees working from various places in the UK , Ireland , Spain and Serbia . Founded by scientists from the world’s leading research universities, we have brought together an expert team across science, technology, business and operations.

Where you will make a difference: 


You will join a product squad, building out new features that add real customer value as well as maintaining the current platform. With the small team size you will be given lots of autonomy and the chance to make a real impact. We don't expect you to know everything, but a drive to learn, take ownership and learn from your mistakes is key.


Our Tech Stack: 

  • We believe in the right tool for the job but we are moving towards a full Typescript stack deployed via CI/CD to AWS.
  • React.js on the front end.
  • Node on the backend (moving away from PHP monolithic to more event driven microservice architecture) with some Python sprinkled on for the more data science parts.
  • On the database side Postgres/MySql, DocumentDB and DynamoDb.

What we need from you:

  • 3+ years experience coding
  • Experience moving fast with Agile.
  • Ability to build software with high security and quality.
  • Have good knowledge of JavaScript and specific frameworks for full-stack (Node.js or React)
  • Knowledge of Typescript.
  • Be proficient with containerisation (Docker) and serverless
  • How, why and when to test correctly
  • Know how to profile, troubleshoot, debug, maintain, and improve existing software.
  • Experience working with and building public/internal APIs.
  • Have the ability to work in a changing environment.
  • Have the ability to create rapid prototypes and understand how these differ from production level code.
  • Good knowledge of at least one database (SQL, NoSql, etc.)
  • Have the ability to communicate with all level stakeholders.

  • Experience in another language (PHP or Python).
  • Microservices experience.
  • Interest in biology and health.
