This is a permanent, fulltime post of 37 hours per week, with a rotational shift pattern (Monday to Sunday).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Charge Nurse in our South Glasgow Older Adult mental health wards, within Leverndale hospital. This is full-time permanent post Monday-Sunday
Day shift time 07:15-19:30 hrs/Night shift 19:15-07:30 hrs
Banff ward is a mixed sex 20 bed functional assessment ward for over 65 year olds. As an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, the post-holder will work in partnership, demonstrating compassionate caring behaviours to fulfil the key functions of the inpatient wards/departments.
The post holder:

  • Will have opportunities to enhance their skills and access role specific training to support your ongoing professional development.
  • Will directly contribute to safe, efficient and person centred care and treatment and contribute to site page holding duties, which will require you to work across the mental health inpatient service to ensure nursing care meet the needs of the service.
  • Should have knowledge and preferable experience of working with older adults and be able to demonstrate that you are able to fulfil the essential criteria required for this leadership and development role.
  • Provide clinical leadership for the assessment of patient needs, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care which are evidence based. Utilizing all available resources taking into consideration the lifestyle, gender and cultural background and ensure involvement with the patient, family, carers and significant others.
  • The post holder is required to be able to undertake duties without direct supervision, supporting and supervising work undertaken by registered and unregistered nursing staff, as well as taking charge in the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse. The post holder is responsible for proactively promoting partnership working with patients, carers and other professionals/ agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies.
  • The post holder will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with current UK NMC registration and have robust and relevant experience of working as a Band 5 Mental Health.
