Application Software Engineer - Graduate

At ToffeeX, we are revolutionizing engineering design with our innovative software, Toffee. This cutting-edge tool automates the creation of mechanical components for the engineering industry, leveraging advanced artificial intelligence, numerical simulation, and sophisticated mathematical optimization techniques. By bringing these innovations to the cloud, we empower design engineers to create components that outperform existing solutions.

We are committed to integrating the latest mathematical research into practical industry applications. Our cloud platform, built on a microservice architecture, allows us to continuously deploy advanced algorithms in optimization, computational geometry, and machine learning, keeping us at the forefront of engineering design technology.

Role Overview:

As a Mathematician at ToffeeX, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing advanced mathematical models that drive our engineering design software. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to solve complex engineering problems, focusing onmathematical optimization, numerical methods for partial differential equations (PDEs), and computational geometry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine mathematical models and algorithms to address complex engineering challenges, particularly those involvingnonlinearPDEs andoptimization
  • Innovate beyond existing literature, developing creative approaches to solve unique mathematical problems.
  • Ensure mathematical rigor and accuracy in all algorithms and solutions implemented in our software.
  • Conduct research to stay ahead of emerging mathematical methods and apply them to real-world engineering applications.
  • Collaborate with engineers and software developers to integrate mathematical models into our cloud-based platform.
  • Contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle, from conceptualization to deployment and maintenance.

Preferred Qualificationsand Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field.
  • Strong background inconstrainednumerical optimization, with experience in subfields such as nonlinear, nonsmooth, nonconvex or robust optimization being highly desirable.
  • Experience withnumerical methodsfor PDEs, applied across various physical domains at a research level.
  • Experience with the development and implementation of algorithms for solving complex mathematical problems, particularly in the context of engineering applications.
  • Experience with software development in C++, Python, or similar languages.
  • Ability to translate complex mathematical concepts into practical software solutions for engineering applications.

What We Offer:

  • The opportunity to work at the intersection of advanced mathematics, engineering, and technology in a rapidly growing company.
  • A dynamic, collaborative environment where your mathematical expertise will directly impact product development and innovation.
  • Flexibility and support for continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Work primarily on-site at our London, UK office (we can sponsor Work Visas in the UK).

Who We Are Looking For:

We seek flexible, curious mathematicians who are passionate about applying their skills to solve real-world problems. If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are eager to push the boundaries of engineering design, we encourage you to apply.
