About the Data + Science Team

We have over 200 Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Analysts, and Analytics Engineers working across product, business and platform teams. Responsibilities


  • Design, build and continuously improve algorithmic, machine learning systems and decision-making processes that power forecasting at Deliveroo.
  • Develop accurate forecasting models across Deliveroo domains and markets with appropriate granularity and explainability to inform strategic decisions and financial planning.
  • Collaborate with Finance & Strategy to understand business needs and input into forecasting models and other forecasts.
  • Focus on forecasting techniques to understand past performance and build models that improve future strategy and financial planning.
  • Work with partners in Finance & Strategy and require strong collaboration and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Apply fundamentals of machine learning and/or operations research where appropriate, with experience in time series analysis or forecasting preferred.
  • Deliver pragmatic, shipped algorithms that drive measurable impact to the business and stakeholders.


Qualifications


  • 3+ years' experience as a ML Engineer or Data Scientist.
  • Strong foundation in the fundamentals of machine learning and/or optimization.
  • Experience end-to-end productionisation of models.
  • Experience with time series analysis or forecasting is preferred.
  • Ability to generate accurate forecasts across multiple business domains, accounting for changes in trends, seasonality and other factors; focus on robustness and reusability.
  • Ability to create simulations and what-if scenarios to support business cases and managerial decision making.
  • Proficiency in exploratory data analysis, model/algorithm selection, and building model pipelines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive in gathering input from stakeholders to enhance the relevance and accuracy of analyses.
  • Ability to translate fuzzy business objectives into solvable ML/OR problems.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with changing requirements.
  • Experience building relationships with finance, operations and product counterparts.
