About the Role:

This is an opportunity for Machine Learning Engineer who wants to make a difference.

If successful, you’ll join a purpose-driven engineering team focused on developing and delivering products to solve problems in a lean-agile environment.  Together we find new ways to create a great experience for all our users and make a positive impact to the way social and family history is researched.

You will use your expertise in Machine Learning to create new user experiences using our 3 billion historical records and millions of pages of newspaper content. You will be joining our engineering team and be a valued member working closely in a collaborative, autonomous, cross-functional team.

Here’s what the role involves:

  • You will be building AI/ML solutions to solve problems such as entity extraction, text classification, summarisation, etc.
  • You will be designing, developing and maintaining scalable end to end ML pipelines.
  • You will be using these pipelines to deliver customer-facing experiences. 
  • You will be mentoring mentor and support others to deliver efficient, high-quality implementation at a project level and on your own tasks

About you:

  •  Are you able to develop and deploy machine learning models to production, including tasks like data preparation, training, and monitoring?
  • Can you build and maintain large-scale ML inference pipelines?
  • Do you have the ability to code to production standards in Python?
  • Are you experienced with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn?
  • Do you possess knowledge of and a commitment to sound engineering practices?
  • Are you a strong communicator who enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team?

Requirements

If you have experience with the below it would be great to hear about:

  • Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with workflow and orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster or equivalent
  • Experience in a Software Engineering role
  • Experience with NLP techniques and/or computer vision

What to expect next:

Our interview process is fast and goes like this:

  • You will have an initial call with a member of our People Team. After that, you will receive a take-home task.
  • 30-minute code walk-through session with our Engineers
  • Depth of expertise interview (up to 60 mins) with two of our Engineers covering engineering practices, values and approaches as well as architectural design through to scalability and 30 mins values session with a member of our Engineering Leads.
