Machine Learning - Data & Analytics Specialist Degree Apprentice - Pfizer

Pfizer is looking to recruit a Data & Analytics Specialist apprentice. If you are curious about how data drives real business decisions, this is an exciting opportunity to begin your career within Commercial Excellence & Operations (CE&O) at Pfizer.


You will support the team to collect, study, and interpret data to produce valuable insights for our brands (in market) and wider UK operations and One Pfizer projects.


Qualification Requirements

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative discipline including regularly working with Python and data analysis tools

PLUS

  • Grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics or equivalent, Grade 4 in GCSE English Language or equivalent (prior to admission)

Please be aware - due to government funding guidelines you must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for the 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship to be eligible - time spent in the UK on a student visa does not count as ordinarily resident.


Salary

£20,500 per annum, with annual salary increment increases.

Monday to Thursday, 9am – 5.25pm, Friday 9am - 4.05pm with 45 minute lunch break.

Job Description

As a CE&O Graduate Apprentice, you will play a key role in supporting how CE&O uses data to measure impact across the UK commercial organisation, defining & shaping strategies for our brands, UK channels, operations & omnichannel projects alongside completing a Level 6 Data Science & AI Apprenticeship. You will gain hands on experience working on live business challenges that shape commercial strategy and operational effectiveness.


This role is designed as a developmental pathway, combining structured learning with practical application, coaching, and exposure to stakeholders across CE&O and the wider UK business.

The team plays a critical role and is responsible for:

  • Portfolio strategy and performance of our Commercial Portfolio Brands
  • UK wide commercial operations and executional excellence
  • Customer and channel strategy, including external partnerships & colleague capabilities
  • Connecting local and global marketing & omnichannel strategies and capabilities
  • Leveraging data, analytics, and AI to drive transformation
  • Leading colleague engagement and health & social impact initiatives

As CE&O continues to evolve, with data driven outcomes, simplification and expansion of our analytical tools & capabilities are critical to ensuring focus on the work that delivers the greatest value alongside a sustainable, scalable analytics capability within CE&O. This role directly supports that ambition.


You will work closely with CE&O colleagues and partner with Integrated Insights & Strategy (IIS) to develop practical analytics, dashboards, reporting tools and insights that inform decision making and our strategies. This team functions as internal consultants and brand strategists that partner with commercial and cross‑functional leaders, activating data driven problem solving in a way that the business can execute to drive impact and unlock value.


The role will be accountable for:

  • Market and Brand Analytics
  • Support and execution of analytics reporting, including secondary data analysis, advanced analytics/data science, and modelling
  • Execution of customer and channel analytics, segmentation and targeting and omnichannel analysis
  • Effectively collaborate on the delivery of advanced analytics including predictive modelling, data science and machine learning, as needed
  • Seek continuous improvement, including identification of new capabilities and/or data to maximize Pfizer’s competitive advantage
  • Make recommendations for simplification and evolution of current tools and approaches
  • Performance Management/Forecasting/Operating Plan Support
  • Monitor portfolio performance and deliver accurate and effective performance measurement solutions
  • Monitor the external marketplace/competitive landscape and ensure clear insights are driving commercial decisions
  • Support data modelling and forecasting needs, including for LRF and operating plans.
  • Primary Market Research Management
  • Support PMR execution and identify opportunities to elevate PMR data to enrich secondary analytics and/or execute innovative uses of existing data.
  • Accountable for meeting compliance and corporate SOP obligations of primary market research as relevant.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration + Capability Creation
  • Contribute to the advancement of CE&O capabilities and enable the scaling of those capabilities across platform
  • Facilitate best practice sharing and knowledge management where required
  • Enrol and educate commercial counterparts to utilize the correct analytical tools and drive recommendation adoption.

Candidate Requirements

  • Hands on expertise with machine learning models, proficiency in Python/R and at least one of visualization tools Tableau/Power BI/SAP
  • Proficient with both statistics and linear algebra
  • Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Rational, innovative and creative approach to problem solving
  • Passion to continue learning and improving themselves
  • Multi-disciplinary experience with a preference for exposure to business analytics/finance, marketing, engineering, or other quantitative field
  • Experience in data analytics, primary and secondary market research, data reporting & visualization, and forecasting/modelling; specific experience in Dataiku/DSS and Tableau are highly desired. SQL helpful also.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) and data science approaches
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Fluency in English (written & Spoken)
  • Preferred business acumen and knowledge, ideally in pharma industry or healthcare in UK including relevant data sources required to understand and generate insights about the market
