As the Lead UX Designer you will define and develop frictionless and consistent customer experiences for business of all size and inform the future of digital within Business Energy. This strategic role requires collaboration across Product, Development, Data, and Marketing teams, positioning you as a key player in transforming user-cantered digital services. You will act as the voice of the user, influencing teams across scrum, and bring a unique blend of design and technical expertise, a big-picture vision, and drive to make that vision to life.

As part of your role you will:

- Drive strategic direction from a user experience perspective - envision and develop intuitive, re-usable, scalable, and accessible user experiences for multiple platforms, integrating insights from user research and industry best practices.

- Communicate and visualise design solutions through the creation of high quality UX deliverables - sketches, storyboards, sitemaps, wireframes, flowcharts, prototypes, and IA —to clearly communicate the “why” and “what” of design solutions, aligning them with the product vision.

- Confidently justify design decisions - conduct and synthesize user research, integrating findings into design to balance user needs and business objectives, ensuring designs are informed by the latest insights and technologies, including Big Data Analytics, AI, and Machine Learning.

- Own the end-to-end user experience, take ownership from the big picture to specific UI layouts, identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.

- Provide UX thought-leadership, coaching, mentorship, and guidance within the Design team and across the business.

- Oversee and maintain a centralised design system and asset repository ensuring design integrity, consistency and scalability.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Excellent facilitation and storytelling skills for confidently leading workshops and Design Sprints, engaging and aligning diverse stakeholders.

- Demonstrated experience in interaction and visual design, leading multiple UX design projects from concept to completion, including usability, accessibility, and information architecture, with a sharp eye for detail.

- Skilled in selecting and designing appropriate research methods to uncover user insights, synthesizing feedback to balance user needs with stakeholder expectations, and clearly articulating the “why” behind design choices.

- Proficiency in design tools, advanced skills in Figma, for wireframing and prototyping, with familiarity in Miro for workshops and Google Analytics for data-driven insights.

- Showcase of design impact - a portfolio that highlights not only your design process but also the specific challenges you tackled, illustrating how your work achieved meaningful outcomes for users and the business.
