Salary:£52,805.00 - £57,280.37 with an additional payment for working an On-Call rota

Your role:
Greater Manchester Combined Authority are looking for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud and Server) to work within the Digital Services team. The successful candidate will:
- Proactively support the provision and development of an Information and Communications Technology service to meet the needs of the organisation now and in the future.Managing a team of Infrastructure Engineers with on focus on cloud and server technologies.
- Support the delivery of the blueprint for the future development of the technical landscape,
- Focus on the use of server and cloud technologies as an enabler to deliver organisational outcomes, also supporting the delivery of third line support services.
About you:
You will have:
- Extensive experience working in an IT infrastructure or an equivalent role
- Been educated to degree level in a relevant subject or significant demonstrable experience
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Relevant professional qualification
- Experience in all aspects of designing, planning, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a complex on-prem and cloud infrastructure environment.
- Proven experience acting as the technical lead on large and technically complex projects.
- Experience of Leading, coaching and performance managing a technical team responsible for the organisation’s technology, supporting ecosystem, services and platforms. Acting as primary point of escalation for all issues.
- Experience deploying large complex infrastructure solutions, in the cloud or on-prem.
- In-depth understanding of security in relation to on-prem or cloud deployments.
- Thorough and up to date knowledge of IT security best practices, for example interpretation of National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) guidance, Microsoft security best practice, etc.
- A general understanding of networking and DMZ networking, including within Azure.
- Advanced knowledge and demonstratable experience across a wide range of technologies, as listed in the role profile
About the team:
The Digital Services team manage and support the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s ICT architecture.
We:
- Lead the Digital, Data and Technology function and strategy for GMCA
- Set and enforcestandards for digital servicesincluding considerations of data security
- Help the business to choose the right solution and technology, keeping the context of partnership in mind
- Provide guidance and advice for consistent, coherent, high quality digital services
- Support North West Fire Control who provide a service to GMFRS as well as Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria
We employ around 40 staff, mostly based remote or in Fire and Rescue Services HQ, 146 Bolton Road in Swinton. We also support the GMCA HQ at Churchgate house, Oxford Street, Manchester and 47 Fire stations, Training Centres and Data Centres across greater Manchester.
The role will involve working an out of hours, On-Call rota which includes an additional payment of around £4000 per year.

The Fire Service Headquarters also includes an on-site gym.
